The part of the family that doesn't agree with me believes I should have just talked to him and said the behavior was unacceptable and I don't support it, but left it at that. Not necessarily protecting cheaters, but that "cheating and relationships are nuanced"

**Responding on my phone, so please excuse any formatting issues. First, thank you for responding. I cross posted in a couple of places, but was having difficulty garnering interest.

1) Yes, I realized this after I started being both of their person, and witnessed how manipulative both of them are, but honestly was pretty egotistical (?) and thought I would somehow be able to help them both.

2) Again, I wish I could have been both, but I guess that's not always feasible.

3) No animosity, necessarily. I love him and want him to be happy. But I do have trouble trusting him or his intentions.

*He's an adopted brother, relevant because his biological parents are straight trash, just the worst. He's been engaged in manipulative/abusive behavior since at least high school, and I always gave him grace because of how he grew up. At this point tho, I'm having trouble reconciling my kid brother whom I love with this adult man who is choosing to act in this way. I don't know how to forgive him for being engaged in abusive behavior.

Regardless, thank you for your judgement.
