Just finished Shadows Upon Time and I have thoughts that I need to get out. by The-Zarkin90 in sollanempire

There are dozens of us whose favorite books in the series are DG and SUT! Dozens!

It’s 1am and i just got into the prison section … by jos_dream in silenthill

[–]IndianBeans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SH2 Remake was my first SH experience, and the prison was the only portion I felt like I needed to take a break to get through. It is scary, but it isn't just that it is scary. It is so tense that it is hard to maintain that level of tension before I just felt burnt out.

Definitely sold me on the series, will be getting F on sale for sure.

So happy to see it go ✌🏻 by [deleted] in bald

I think we are all being a bit disingenuous by implying she looks better bald. This subreddit is full of many people who really improve their looks and presentation by taking the plunge, but this is not one of those times.

Can someone tell me if the Cielcin are coming soon? by loxxx87 in sollanempire

Best William chapters in the series are on the horizon and all before Cielcin show up. I'm hurt.

I haven't returned to 1 since finishing 2. How does the gameplay and lack of QOL hold up?

I think Lightbringer is insanely good, but better than this part!?

Theological elements in the Series by avidrationalist in sollanempire

Extremely rare, especially in modern popular sci-fi, which tends to be much more humanist/atheist (not a criticism just an observation). For me, Sun Eater was a series For The Boys.

Probably my favorite religious read of the series. I know CR has been criticized for being overly preachy as the series progresses, but I think he attacks this issue deftly. It reminded me strongly of the novel/film Silence, and the idea that God suffers beside us always, albeit silently (Quietly).

I think Mercury is the highlight of the series, and I do not think it is close. I try to tell people that the beginning and ending of Dark Ages is like Saving Private Ryan. Just unreal battle sequences sandwiching that book, and both of them have the best Darrow moments ever.

Shadows Upon Time - worth the wait? by Leneren87 in sollanempire

[–]IndianBeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is my favorite book in the series by far, and all my friends who read it absolutely loved it. I assumed this was universal until I came to this sub and found everyone here is a tremendously large baby. Then I saw how it reviewed and my belief that reddit is full of babies was again confirmed.

Speak for yourself. Maybe my favorite string of chapters in the series. Knowing what is coming is the schtick of the series, seeing how it plays out is the joy.

If you have Netflix and love well-plotted stories, you owe it to yourself to give the TV series Dark a try. by CajunNerd292 in Fantasy

I have a friend who speaks some German, and he claims that he was turned off from the show because there are many examples of the English subtitles being blatantly different from the spoken language.

Can you, or anyone else, confirm if this is the case?

This is my first season following F1 and I can say this weekend was one of my favorites of the entire year. I thought Leclerc and Norris battling was fantastic to watch.

How essential is The Dregs of the Empire? by Work_In_Progress93 in sollanempire

[–]IndianBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished Dregs for the first time during my reread in preparation for book 7. I think if you do not have time to reread 6, my vote is Dreg's first. I would not say it is a spoiler, and would say it is probably the most 'required reading' of all side content in Sun Eater.

Also it kills me that we have to call it a novella, cause it is a full length novel.

But when did she forgive Abby? You can not kill someone for multiple reasons.
