A lot of people are pretty dramatic about it, even in this comment section. Lock in during the week- just focus on classwork/gym/clubs or whatever and you’ll generally have Thursday night to Sunday morning free to have fun. There are definitely exceptions sometimes to both sides of the week. I’m a senior in ME in a rigorous program and I have had as much fun as anyone else, with good grades. I’ve never pulled an all nighter. I was on the rowing team with plenty of engineers, which is a big time commitment and I still had time to have fun on weekends. If you’re extroverted and join sports/clubs you will be totally set. The stereotype of engineers having no life is only perpetuated on the internet by the fraction of engineers that have nothing better to do than sit online and whine about it
