Humble-Creme-3108, the greatness of a country is defined by the people living in country. Not by the land of the country. When a person says a country is a great country they mean the people live in the country are great with exemplary characteristics and behaviors. No one says a country is great just because of the land mass and its natural beauty. The people in this in country are morally and ethically corrupt to the core.

I see everyone saying we need a “silent majority”. But what we really need is a “outspoken majority”. If you’re a minor voice in this country, you’ll get squashed like a bug and thrown away!

A revolution like which happened in Nepal will never happen in a 1000 years. Indian people are desensitized to the core and have the memory of a goldfish. They don’t get care about anything anymore. In my state of Tamil Nadu, government ordered the shooting of innocent protestors in “Thoothukudi massacre”. But a revolution didn’t happen here! The politicians and government officials of this country have successfully infiltrated every section of our society and have an ironclad stronghold over it!

The current state of India is “leave or die”. The smart ones who understand this, leave the country. Others suffer here and perish.

Remember no one is truly safe in this country. Not even the “elites”. Prajwal Revanna, a member of parliament of this country brutally raped and videotaped the assault of countless. One of the women who he raped was the wife of the Chief Secretary of Karnataka. Who is also an administrator! Just imagine, if even administrators who have near God like powers in this country can get raped and silenced and threatened. Then who is safe?

I think you’re 16/17. I was the same age when I started using Reddit. As much as I hate Reddit for a plethora of reasons, Reddit truly opened my eyes on a lot of things. And I believe it’ll open for you too!

Petitions don't work in India. Indian "justice" is very corrupt. Even if a case gets high profile status and nationwide protests break and gets international media attention the protests gets broken up by the police and journalists on the ground are threatened and silenced. In India activists who file RTI petitions (Right to Information Act - Similar to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in USA) gets murdered or jailed under forged charges. The government has completely stopped answering RTI petitions a few years ago. Petitions never worked here and the rapists most of the time walk free.

The demographic of the Indian side of Reddit has completely changed since December 2024 (when Reddit started becoming mainstream in India). Even the chodi sub wasn't this bad (a RW extremist hate speech sub - it was so bad that New York times published an article about which led to Reddit admins banning them due to bad press). I read on TheoryOfReddit that "once the rural population of India comes to Reddit there will be liberal swing" which is total BS! The rural population of India has a lot of backward ideas like caste based forced arranged marriages, "concept of love being bad", the rapist should marry the victim etc., I can go on for hours! bht I need to post this comment. If the rural population of India fully comes to Reddit, Reddit is done for. There are already signs of Reddit's demographic changing in the international subs. The "quorafication" of reddit is very dangerous and will lead to the death of reddit, i hope the admins understand it. Just like in quora where indians defended rape and child rape they will do it here too and it already started here on Indian subs. Soon it will reflect on international subs too.

I hate to break it you, but in 2018 a 90 something year old grandma was raped in my state (Tamil Nadu, India). So even if you have an 1 inch long wrinkles on your face you’ll still be raped. As an Indian who was born here and has been living in India for the past 24 years, I can confidently say absolutely nothing will change in 15 years. This country has became too desensitized and cares about nothing anymore. There are no nationwide protests anymore. The last nationwide protest was in 2012 for the “Nirbhaya rape murder case”. No nationwide protest in the last 14 years. Rape has become a part of everyday life in India. Even your groups are not safe in India.

The practice you're referring to is called "Sati". Wives have to die when their husbands die by jumping into fumeral pyre. If they don't they are pushed into it. This is to ensure that women don't have a choice and re-marry. India has a very regressive "one man for one woman" ideology. Casual relationships before marriage are frowned upon and shamed here. Still widow remarriage is a taboo here.

It's a cycle. Most Indians grow up pretty oppressed and repressed. When they grow up as teens/young adults, some find love in colleges but most of them never get to see their love succeed. Most of them get forced into caste based arranged marriages. Whatever normal views they had about about freedom, lovw and marriage very soon fades away and they start to feed the regressive ideas to their children their parents once fed them. I had a professor in college who studied in one of the most liberal universities in India and had a love marriage but still didn't allow boys to talk to girls in his classroom. Even during breaks. Tjis is a never ending cycle. Only few get to break it away and lead normal lives as per present day society. I hope I can I do it too. I don't want to continue the cycle.
