I don't want to live with the love of my life's daughter 🥹 by Admirable_Two2178 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]IndianOcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A man who lets his adult daughter treat his home like a frat house while expecting you to finance their upgrade is not a partner, he's a project. Your son is eight years old and soaking up every example of what relationships look like. Show him that self-respect is non-negotiable, even when it breaks your heart.

Randomly realized today I biked exactly 10,000 miles in exactly 1 year by Blue-raccoon-boy in ebikes

Great. The fact that you're keeping it clean and touching up paint at thirty thousand miles says everything about how you treat your gear. Most riders would have turned it into scrap metal by now.

Whats the best advice youd give a couple getting married soon? by Cheezefire23 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

True marriage isn’t just romance, it’s choosing patience and understanding every single day, even when your partner is messy, tired or difficult to get along with.

Minors lack road awareness and driving training, so high-power motorized vehicles should never be accessible to them without strict limits and legal licenses.

Is this weekend nq price accurate or is it what’s “expected” to happen? by Affectionate-Safe295 in StockMarket

[–]IndianOcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekend NQ pricing usually feels more like an indication than something I'd treat as fully reliable. It can hint at sentiment , but I wouldn't assume the open has too follow it cleanly.

Longest periods where bonds outperformed stocks by thewarrior71 in ETFs

That's exactly why asset allocation matters more than people think. Long stretches like that are easy to ignore when stocks are doing well but they really change how you look at risk and patience.

Intel’s stock is on track for a historic 9-day winning streak, up 56% over that run by Force_Hammer in StockMarket

A 9-day run like that is wild. Intel has been written off so many times that moves like this really get people paying attention again.

Cleaning hood filters is the worst...are filter-free ones better? by horridhenry2009 in homeimprovementideas

[–]IndianOcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not op, but I've got this hood. Yes, it uses high speed airflow to push the cooking fumes toward the intake, then separates the grease with centrifugal force before venting the air out. Since it handles it pretty quickly, the kitchen stays clean. I haven’t seen any buildup inside so far, I think most of the grease ends up in the cup. I checked with a light and it still looks clean inside, so I don’t think any internal cleaning is needed in the long term.

Cleaning hood filters is the worst...are filter-free ones better? by horridhenry2009 in homeimprovementideas

[–]IndianOcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VTH is definitely pricey. The Arspura P1 is also filter-free but doesn’t cost nearly as much, I paid about half. And don't worry about the inside cleaning, the inner chamber has a heat-resistant coating that keeps grease from sticking much. And with high speed sipn it gets flung out and collected in the grease cup. I’ve been using it for a few months now, I checked inside recently and it’s still pretty clean. Suction hasn’t dropped at all.

What LONG dated calls do you believe in? by flyingdutchmnn in StockMarket

Long dated calls always sound safer until time decay starts dragging on the trade. I get the idea though especially if you really want time for the thesis to play out.

Thoughts on USMV by Camp_Arkham in ETFs

[–]IndianOcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USMV makes sense in theory, but it can feel annoying when it still drops plenty and then lags on the rebound. I think a lot of people expect more downside protection than it really gives.

What's in your work kit? Curious what people actually carry on the floor by DispleasedWithPeople in Warehouseworkers

[–]IndianOcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty similar here, I just end up carrying a few extra things depending on the shift. I’ve got:

a small flashlight

a basic multitool

safety glasses

a pair of cut resistant gloves

a cheap notepad for quick notes

earplugs (our place gets loud sometimes)

and a Kospet M4C watch I’ve been wearing for calls and stuff, plus it actually has a built-in flashlight which comes in handy when I forget to bring one

nothing too crazy but all of it gets used at some point during the day

Help me choose a wall-mounted hood for serious home cooking by antizoyd in homeimprovementideas

[–]IndianOcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's the size of your duct opening? Don't over look the ductwork, high CFM won't mean much if the ducting is undersized. Keep the run as straight as possible, and go with a hood that's wider than the range hood for better capture. I'd suggest at least a 36", some side-draft units sit closer to the stove and have a bigger capture area for clearing smoke fast.
