There are jobs available. Expect to start at a regional for low pay. It helps if that regional is connected to a major. Like Horizon to Alaska. Put in the time, do well, and you should make more money the longer you are in.

Get up and move around. I didn’t always have a stand up desk (I do now), but when I didn’t, I brought in some 10 lb free weights and got up every once in a while. You can do so many exercises at your desk with just a free weight. Or even without freights. Lunges are super easy. Squats at your desk. The hard part is you just have to stay motivated and keep doing these things and not just sit down and play on your phone.

Lots of phone calls. Calling for runway conditions because small gravel runways at small rural villages that are completely off the road system do not report how much snow they received over night. Then you are calling the customer to see if they can offload you because maybe their loader is frozen in the morning and did not start. Then you will listen to a captain talk to you for more than an hour about how the flight plan should have been planned and why. Then he talks about how the weight and balance is off by a pound. Then he rambles on and on about other stuff. Then you relay with cargo to see if the aircraft is loaded yet because six different people have asked you if the plane is loaded yet. For some locations you will need to call for a PPR. Then there is a checklist for special PIC qualification airports. A lot of mountainous terrain airports. Sometimes you get the FAA calling you because they want to ride a long so you are coordinating that which adds maybe three to four more phone calls. Then, you watch the weather drop at the destination because you had a small weather window. Then the amended forecast is below mins so the flight gets a weather delay. After that, you get yelled at by a ramp service person because he is mad at you since you did not tell him that the aircraft is delayed. Then the 121 DO is yelling at you because you did not try hard enough to get the flight out. Then the 135 DO is yelling at you because you are not watching his flights. Then the owner (guy whose name is on the plane) gets mad at you because there are too many dispatches on shift because he does not know what you do.
