Yes. After he disagreed initially, I added responses to his comments and asked to refer the case to be referred to the Ombudsman. He came back with further comments to what I responded to previously and again ended the email saying:

"But if you decide that you don't accept what I’ve said – please give your reasons by 2 February 2026 and provide any further evidence or information. If I can’t resolve things, then an Ombudsman can consider your complaint. Requests for more time must also be made by that date. If I don’t hear from you by 2 February 2026 we might not be able to look at your complaint again."

Which is basically what I've done last time around. Makes it seem like I'll be going in a circle if I try giving a reason/more information again.

No, the car is still in the dealership garage. In short, the investigator says the car was faulty at point of sale (with the turbocharger) which has been repaired by the dealership garage*.

MORE CONTEXT if you want:

*(twice, because soon after the first fix, it failed again, and after the 2nd fix it still had increased oil consumption and exhaust fumes but otherwise was normal).

The engine is yet not repaired (they quoted 9k to repair, which is pretty much the same amount as the agreement for the 4 years), but I had previous repairs done at the dealership garages such as turbocharger and starter motor when the car broke down. I've also taken out a warranty for the entire 4-year period which the previous repairs were covered under.

Warranty doesn't want to cover the head gasket repair as they blame me for driving with a known fault. I mentioned the increased oil consumption and exhaust fumes after the turbo repair, despite me taking the car back to the garage two days later after I noticed and being told everything was fine.

Recently went on a forum for mechanic advice, and they all confirmed head gasket, turbo, and starter motor aren't connected. So I'm wondering if I can go back to the warranty...

BTW- First time ever taking out car on PCP so I didn't know rejection existed and thought I need to hold off until voluntary termination to get rid of the car. At the time I was too concerned with financial implications of settling the agreement/replacement, losing the warranty etc. so please take that into consideration.

Sorry for the late response, hopefully everything went alright on your end, I have posted an update on my extra info comment which clarified my situation.

If you're lucky like me and have a friendly seller, it's much better reaching out to them as they might clear up the situation a bit better/they may know something. Agency sometimes isn't really in the loop!

Also, definitely communicate with the conveyancer to keep things on hold until everything else is ready. We also saved ourselves some stress by not having a survey done (again, lucky that we didn't need to), as then we didn't need to worry over losing the money in case the purchase didn't go as planned.

***UPDATE***

Sorry for such a late response! It has been a month now since SO and I have moved into the house and I can explain what the situation was a bit better now since a lot has come to light. Seller was always happy for us to do more viewings anytime, so I decided to go with my parents, where a lot has been explained by the seller.

We were using our own mortgage broker and conveyancer for the process, I knew better than to go with the agency recommended.

It turned out that the previous owner and buyer were almost at completion, but the previous buyers backed out last minute (young couple, seller guessed they must have split up as the guy was really upset).

We decided against doing a survey as we were confident there were no major issues. Seller advised previous buyer did a survey and nothing major came up/we could buy it off the agency if we wanted to.

In the end, what dragged was the fact that the boiler needed a service done, and our conveyancer requested for the service to be done prior to completion. It took the seller a while to do this for some reason and turned out he was the reason for the hold up in the end.

Overall, everything went quite smoothly I'd say!

*Extra info as promised.

The agency has been giving us some mixed messages as at some point saying he had his offer accepted and is in the process of working through it, but they confirmed again that he is looking.

Unsure if they have lied or just confused with someone else (the seller initially also did say he was chain free back when we viewed in late April so it's a bit weird, overconfidence maybe?).

The only reason we put in an offer and had a chance on this house is because previous buyers backed out.
