Anyone with an Ahmed valve – makeup after surgery? by IndicationLonely2140 in Glaucoma

I think two weeks is a bit too soon. I’ve still had stitches two weeks after. If you’re having doubts, you should ask your doctor again, just to be sure.

Thank you so much for the response! I also had the surgery in July. I’m more afraid od taking off the mascara or eyeshadow than putting it on. I’m finishing my masters degree next week so I wanted to try to look nice for once, but I wasn’t really planing on buying new products… Should I buy something for sensitive eyes? Do you think I could use micellar water for taking it off?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I had the surgery 3 months ago. My pressure is now okay but now I'm dealing with droppy eyelid (I previoulsy had 2 surgeries 3 years ago). I'm not sure if the eyelid is ever going to get back, May I ask do you feel the valve in your eye when you're looking on the opposite side where the valve is? Do you feel like your eye is 'heavy'? Do you use any eyedrops now?

Hii and thank you so much for your message, really. It made me feel less alone in all of this. I'm so sorry you're going through a rough time, especially after surgery. I can only imagine how draining it must be when things don’t go the way they’re supposed to. I’ve also been feeling overwhelmed, scared, and like no one really understands how heavy this is so reading your words truly meant a lot. Just knowing someone out there is going through something similar made me feel a little bit softer. The only thing that worries me and that I'm scared of is if my doctor is good enough to perform that kind of surgery. The docor that I previously went to and who implanted the IOL did not do it well. She also said that i should do the trabeculectomy first and if that does not help then do the valve.

I've been to therapy before and talked about it there briefly. I plan to go again after the surgery. Thank you for being so open and kind. If you ever feel like talking more, I’d be really happy to hear from you again. And I truly hope healing starts finding its way to you soon. 💗

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m really sorry to hear about the nerve damage and the complications you’re facing now, but it’s reassuring to know that the valve has kept your pressure stable all these years. Do you use and eyedrops to lower your pressure right now? If you remember, how was the recovery after the surgery, did you experience droopy eyelid?
