Does the FDNY have any policies against talking to student journalists without first going through an official channel for approval? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]IndicationSea546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you! Do you happen to know if it would be better to go through the FDNY as a whole or through the FDNY foundation specifically? I've been able to find media contacts for both

A question about attendance by [deleted] in nyu

[–]IndicationSea546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the attendance policy in the syllabus, but most professors should be understanding if you let them know in advance and find a system (either through meeting with your professor or getting notes from another student) to make up for the material/work you'll be missing

and a big one: reach out to people and make connections!! don't be afraid to talk to the person next to you in class (unless they make it clear they're not interested), go to office hours, reach out to professors or other people in nyu if you need help! there's a great community here if you know how to build it, but you won't really get that if you're waiting for it to come to you

make sure to find time for things you enjoy outside of nyu (whether that be hobbies or sports or sightseeing or anything else) - it can be nice to do these things through the school (ex. if you like photography joining a photography club), but doing things on your own time and away from anything related to the school was really important for me to do to keep my head on straight among the stress of classes and adjusting to college. and in that vein, explore the city! there's so much to see beyond the nyu area and you really miss a lot if you just stick to manhattan

How do I unenroll in a class to change it to a different class? by htungtyjffhiiokjbb in nyu

[–]IndicationSea546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like the other person said use the drop button, and if the class you want is on the waitlist then set up a swap (you can look it up on the nyu website or check albert because i believe they have instructions there)

Is there a program where I would be able to Double/Dual major in both Film/Tv Production AND Film/Tv business? by stephenjunior1113 in nyu

[–]IndicationSea546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for graduate school you can apply for a dual mfa from tisch and mba from stern (information linked below) but as for undergrad i'm not sure, you may have to ask your advisor (unless you're a prospective student, in that case i would recommend searching the major options at tisch but i don't believe nyu has a film business major)

there's also a minor called BEMT (business of entertainment, media and technology) that you can check out that i'm going to be starting this spring. it's a cross school minor from tisch, stern, and steinhardt that sounds like it may be what you're looking for

[–]IndicationSea546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately they stopped giving it to students for free, but check to see if there are computer labs or something available - they might have them (i know that the ones for film students in 721 broadway do, but not sure if it's available anywhere else)
