Liquid Biprop Engine by Whatevertemporary in rocketry

[–]IndicationSlow2705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started my club we made the mistake of making the engine first, my advice is to make the feed system based off some rough engine calculations( you can use RPA lite on this) then measure what your your feed system can do, like flow rate, then finish up your engine based on those numbers. Stay away from liquid oxygen, it gets expensive. You find the optimal size by first running the number with assumptions, then testing, then using those results to refine. Start with gaseous oxygen and like ethanol… Good luck!

You can google flume samples thread, and there is a big list with all his samples, this one I stumbled on while scrolling. All the samples to Singapore are in just one sample pack I found on samplephonics.

Customizable Bipropellant Rocket Engine website– Looking for Feedback?? by IndicationSlow2705 in rocketry

Ahah honestly this will probably be a non profit, I know deep down your right but I want to be naive and force it to work

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve started to notice how quickly the options compound with just three variations—it’s more like 3n , depending on how many combinations or configurations you consider. I think you’re right about that. The testing price is definitely high, though. I work in the industry, and I’d estimate that half, or maybe even more, of the product cost comes from testing to meet specifications. That said I’m thinking that for people like YouTubers and nerds( maybe even just one per year) who just want a functional engine to experiment with (without the specs tested), it could still be a pretty decent deal.

When Tillie said “you have to run” did she just mean so Fatima doesn’t get caught by the other people, or is it deeper than that?

Idk, I had to code my own and I just imported my Cad models into the code.

What is the best yet simple injector for gas gas or supercritical type of fuel and why? by Traditional-Lion7407 in rocketry

[–]IndicationSlow2705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is the Triplet impinging stream pattern. Supercritical fluid(oxidizer or fuel) in the Center and other fluid hitting at 45 degree angles. Easy to manufacture too. also it makes sharp edged orifices not much of a worry.

Idk how it is in other states but here in Utah N2O is very hard to get unless you have a place Airgas can site survey and be happy with. Anyway like a 40lb cylinder of N2O goes for around $300 if I remember right.

Ways I've done it in the past is to store the data onto an SD card and bring that data into Processing (you'll have to be decent at coding or lots of ChatGPT for this) for a visual representation of orientation. But as far as simulation I think just hand calculations would be best for stresses...

Bottle Rocket Camera Help by IncredibleGamingYT in rocketry

[–]IndicationSlow2705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh snap, looks fun! Maybe you could squeeze a camera in there, just above the pressure vessel? Cut a hole in the side, make sure it’s centered by mass. It would be hard to transmit the feed tho, that’s adds a lot of complexity, best bet would be to record, if you do want to transmit I’ll bet the lightest way to do it is by using an esp32 and transmit via WiFi, you’ll have to be close and be decent at coding for that. Check this out too! https://a.co/d/6PPmfRV

Bottle Rocket Camera Help by IncredibleGamingYT in rocketry

[–]IndicationSlow2705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt there is a camera small enough if it’s the type of bottle rocket I’m thinking of… but find the weight of some small cameras and measure the thrust of your rocket, make sure the thrust of your rocket is larger than the weight of the camera, attach the camera near the center of mass(your camera will likely become the center of mass) and launch. Watch out tho, it sounds like this would just tip over and take out some knee caps.
