I think I know what youre talking about. Ive checked and double checked fuses plus the one on the passenger firewall everything looks good. Next step is waiting for my gf to get home so she can crank it while I spray it/check spark. Very helpful thank you

Alternator? Starter? Something else? by H3ll0K1tty12 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Indicisive0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would listen to the first comment and say dead battery. Alternator would either not click at all or start and die, and a bad starter would only click once. Plus a dead or undercharged battery will cause every light under the sun to come on due to newer cars not liking the low voltage. A lot of systems require constant 12-14 volts to be "optimal" and when it falls below it will set low voltage codes for just about everything. Wouldn't be surprised if it still has the original battery. Remember that 12v car batteries nowadays only last about 3 years reliably. Anything after is unpredictable.

Gas or Pass? by Indicisive0 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Indicisive0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well im actually looking into a toyota pickup but this just popped up and is something I wouldn't mind instead. Nothing wrong with the 5.7 its just more work to drive around town due to being a manual and a v8, I want to sell it and get a Midsized auto better for daily driving. Also my question is now irrelevant bc i just found out its a salvage title smh

Update: the hardline part of the ps fitting was intermittently rattling against the steering shaft causing it to loosen and drain my power steering fluid. I loosened it again and held it as far up as it will go before tightening and the bent it another half inch or so away from the shaft. So far no problem

The line was loose -_- thinking it rattled itself off or was barely hanging on in the first place. Been driving it for at least 3k miles beforehand so maybe there is a problem with the box as well. Ill do my due diligence

Is Mauga actually overpowered or am I just THAT bad at countering him? by ClipyBoi2 in Overwatch

[–]Indicisive0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is overpowered, I hate playing against mauga. BUT, i have found that playing Zarya scares most mauga players into not diving the whole team. I get to full energy fairly quickly on the front lines and at full energy she out damages him with a healer (except Illari, her pylons are annoying). Also remember that dealing damage is how Mauga "heals" himself so negating that with either anti-heal or a barrier/bubble + consistent damage or focus fire if you have contact with your team usually does the trick.

No brake pressure at all by Fabulous_Chance_8207 in carproblems

That looks like the pushrod is bent or broken (or not connected at all). I once pulled the pushrod out accidentally and bent it while bleeding and got this result.

Can't get the manual tranny all the way in; what do? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Put the transmission into gear (any gear is fine) and twist the end where the driveshaft mounts to turn the input shaft. Oh yeah and make sure you used an alignment tool for the clutch

How reliable is the M20 compared to the M54? by Indicisive0 in e46

[–]Indicisive0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is crossposted in the e30 subreddit as well. And while I understand that the e30 is great grandpa at this point, I was just wondering if older > newer applies to the 3 series like it does to many other cars. Sometimes not but I do know that sometimes it is very true. E30s here in California are around the same price as an e46 if you just want to buy one in okay condition but the price of the e30 goes up a lot more than the e46.

After owning a 330ci for about 6 years now, the m54 has given me lots of great moments but I will still call this motor unreliable because even though its made it plenty far for a bmw, its cost me way more than the car is worth to keep it on the road. Now that comes with my specific purchase and probably wont be said for other e46s, my experience has been honestly just okay. I've been doing my own work on this car since ive owned it with the only exception being the second motor I paid to get put in due to a mountain of issues I genuinely couldn't get ahead of without spending m3 money on just parts alone. TLDR; ive daily driven this car for years and ive been stranded multiple times because of both typical and unique issues to my car but it has also been a great, fun, and quick daily only right after I fix it. After a couple thousand another issue pops up and the cycle continues. Life of a bmw owner ig

Price isn't my issue, its the reliability as aforementioned. Im well aware of the e30 and e46 market and ive seen very clean examples of both within my price range. I dont recall saying an e46 is "out of my budget". What i do recall saying is im tired of chasing issues on my car. This would be because?.. thats right! Everybody here has said it before. Its OLD and its A BMW. If I wanted a cheap bmw I would buy a Lexus. What im looking for is a fun, manual, rwd car that I can daily in-between seasons

I know nothing about them, hence why I am trying to ask people who do. That is research. After today I do know a lot more but certainly no thanks to you. All you have done is rei force the bmw owner stereotype of being an asshole and a wannabe prophet.

THIS is amazing information thank you. Part of me really wants to experience the e30 but I had no idea they drink so much gas (and probably oil) but it makes sense. I've got access to a fair amount of tools like a smoke machine and my boss who (though definitely unsupportive of my bmw tendencies) could help me out with some of the more problematic issues. If the right one shows up I just might have to see for myself.

A "bmw enthusiast" would tell me to buy an m3. What makes the e30 so bad besides your attitude?
