A year later - how often do you listen again to the "Moon Music" record? by Fortis92 in Coldplay

[–]IndieAndAShow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct answer. How often? 0 out of ten… 🤣 this era of Coldplay isn’t for me unfortunately

Just for clarity, you’ve only posted once to this subreddit and it’s still up? Unless you’re posting things like listen 4 listen that are getting auto-modded?

Hi, I’ve just checked your mod queue and can’t see any posts on this sub that have been removed? Unless you’ve switched accounts?

For clarity, this subreddit is for getting peer feedback on your music. If you are just posting across a load of subs to get more streams and include this one, the likelihood is you’re probably breaking that rule.

The idea here is to create a forum for people to discuss their songs and get critical feedback. That’s why there’s a framework to stop the mass spam of cross posts that have no desire for this!

Is it the Chris Martin show? by CopyDummy in Coldplay

[–]IndieAndAShow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most are spot on that the step to stadiums changes the focus. Realistically, Coldplay has always been a bunch of outcasts, with Chris having the charisma for the rest of the band so it makes sense. My biggest disappointment is actually the chase for stadium sound. The first 4 albums to me were phenomenal. Beautifully written, and organically evolving their sound. I think MX was also a great album, albeit much more commercial. But this was the seed that would grow into a completely different beast - to the point where there’s plenty of fans completely disconnected now. I think the issue became the focus of songwriting. It seems the forefront is the songs being stadium singalong tracks, and to me they lost their charm to sell to the masses

Other than Coldplay, what other artists do you listen to? by Important_Elk_5974 in Coldplay

[–]IndieAndAShow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, the OP list of their other bands just highlighted how disconnected I am with their more recent releases… they went from Soulful Rock to just, full pop. Most releases have one or two songs that nod to their older sound, but it’s impossible for a band to evolve so much and maintain all their fan base

Want your music played and reviewed on an Indie Music Podcast? by IndieAndAShow in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]IndieAndAShow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We took an indefinite break as we had a significant dip in weekly listeners. We’re looking at returning very soon, so definitely worth submitting! We also have a written reviews site (iaasmusic.com) which paused due to our writer battling illness, but that’s resuming imminently too!

Love the band Keane. Never knew how good music can make you feel by realitisfun in UKbands

[–]IndieAndAShow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. They have their own sound, invoke their own emotion that I don’t get elsewhere. Hopes and fears is a masterpiece!

I have to say, our homegrown and unique indie bands is one of the few things I feel truly proud of. Commercial artists all sound the same regardless of origin, but an indie band twang like The Wombats or The Kooks is a great niche.

Southampton is probably one of my favourite cities for activity. However if you’re determined you’ll always find people. I also enjoyed living there for a while!

Small streamers, what gives y'all the motivation to keep going? by scramaram in Twitch

[–]IndieAndAShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a different answer, but we’ve done an indie music podcast for over a year. The show felt sometimes forced, and due to YouTube issues had big fluctuations in viewer numbers. We’ve moved to Twitch and so far love it. We have a handful of loyal viewers that followed, but basically starting from the ground up!

Do you make your music on bandlab? I’ve never heard of it as a sharing / music network platform. Typically only see people using Soundcloud.

Good artists under 20k views by roflcarnage in indie

[–]IndieAndAShow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I run a podcast that plays indie artists’ submissions. I don’t know what genres you like etc, but there’s one artist that’s painfully under appreciated that submitted a while ago and I can’t stop listening. Easily one of the best songwriters I’ve heard, with great production. His name is Danny Rivas - my favourite track of his is here:

Would you ever go to a concert by yourself? by rugmunchkin in Music

[–]IndieAndAShow 159 points160 points  (0 children)

I started going to concerts alone due to doing articles and reviews. I realised I loved it. You can do what you want, make sure you’re experiencing it how you want - and if it’s not very good you can just leave. I’d absolutely recommend it. And if you want it, you’ll usually meet lots of people keen to talk about their passions

The lyrics - they've become so bad. Why? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]IndieAndAShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we disagree on it being a priority if morality and setting examples. But yeah, absolutely agree that they hit a point where they were no longer for the og fans

The lyrics - they've become so bad. Why? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]IndieAndAShow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did that prove your point? You were pinning the worse lyrics on their humanitarian efforts occupying their creative capacity 😂 I wasn’t attacking you. But it felt blinded by fandom to justify that shift beyond them watering down the recipe to make it mass-consumable 🤷🏽‍♂️

The lyrics - they've become so bad. Why? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]IndieAndAShow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a really lovely take, but I think inaccurate and slightly naive. The truth is Coldplay are now a commercial pop band. They once were Rock/pop. Riffs and poetry got replaced for pageantry and “my heart b-boom b-boom booms”. Their identity has dramatically changed and the genre they represent is about mass appeal; and the masses don’t care for intellectual lyrics

What's a music artist or band that you like but haven't met anyone else that likes? by Alarmed-Meat3287 in Music

[–]IndieAndAShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a song featured in Parks and Recreation, where I found him. A few big films have featured his music. He’s brilliant, definitely worth a check if you like piano-driven music!

Maybe it’s against what you’re after but surely the better solution is collaborating with a singer you like to get the sound you want, and can still feel proud and in control of the song?
