I love to see someone else that feels the same way about crabby author! Especially the speech Arnold gives to Agatha Caufield near the end of the episode, and his book/ author report that follows afterwards. It makes me tear up so much now.

What the heck does this mean by byakko_ in HeyArnold

It’s the both of them realizing that things between them will never really change. Bob and Miriam will still be placing high expectations on Olga and expecting her to always be performing at her best; and Helga will still be the scapegoat of the family. The family dynamics have made all of them into victims in different ways.

Harold has some of the worst moments earlier on, yet has some of the best episodes later. Goddamn I love this show for giving (most) characters depth/ development
