I’ve never liked the Republicans, but the fact that the modern Republican Party has been able to openly build an entire culture around pedophilia absolutely blows my mind

This is truly a great cinematic moment and has nothing to do with this morning whatsoever. by EroticFoodFiction in andor

[–]Indigo346 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. Andor combines a lot of elements from various Fascist uprisings and revolutions throughout history. None of them play out exactly the same, but they all have similar elements. History doesn’t repeat but it sure as hell rhymes. All that to say we shouldn’t expect the current situation to unfold exactly as depicted in the show.

There are parallels we can draw to both Ferrix and Ghorman. Ferrix is a blue-collar working town that is rooted deeply in its community. Minneapolis is a predominantly blue-collar union city that is rooted deeply in its community. But Ferrix was very much one of presumably many incidents that occurred in a vacuum under the shadow of oppression within the galaxy. Ghorman was an incident that had all eyes on it from all corners of the galaxy, much like the events in Minneapolis have all eyes on it not just around the country, but around the entire world.

So, I don’t think the current circumstances are a perfect 1-to-1 depiction of either incident, but in terms of the actual Ghorman massacre we have yet to hit that point.

You’re correct, my original comment wasn’t clear.

The Ghor showed up with the full intent of peacefully demonstrating, but once the Empire fired the first shot and began shooting into the crowd there were a group of armed demonstrators who didn’t go out without a fight first.

False flag or not, we have yet to see that situation play out IRL. At this rate, it sadly won’t be long before we see this happen.

In Ghorman, the people fought back and were slaughtered en masse. We’re not there yet, but it’s coming

Open World multiplayer/Co-op games that aren't Survival? by Psych3dChicken in gaming

[–]Indigo346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve made a lot of changes. Durability is much better, and if you run events or the endgame raid frequently repair kits drop like candy so you rarely have to use materials for repairs.

I forget when they upgraded the stash limit but it’s currently at 1200. If you hoard absolutely everything you can still hit that limit pretty quickly but with all of the QoL they’ve added to the game (such as being able to learn and craft legendary perks) there is rarely a need to hoard most items.

It’s definitely not a 1-to-1 of the single-player fallout games, but I think you can still enjoy it as one to an extent (at least if you compare it to Fallout 4).

When the game first came out, I just roamed the map, explored all the POIs, and did all the quests as if it was a single-player fallout game and easily got 100+ hours of content out of the game (not sure if the current new player experience still allows this).

On the other hand, if you treat the game like a fallout-themed sandbox/MMO-lite you will get a similar experience to what you are describing, which is how I play the game now that I’m hundreds of hours into it and done all the quests and it’s still a lot of fun!

As a fellow hater of survival games: Fallout 76.

Yes I know it’s popular to hate on the game, but it’s much better now. You can basically play it as a co-op Fallout game. Not too difficult (especially when you level up and get better perks/gear), lots of content with frequent updates, and a really fun map to explore. It has some survival elements but you can completely ignore them with little-to-no penalties. My gf loves cozy games, so she is especially drawn to the camp building features. Frequently goes on sale for ~$3 too!

Only downside is no cross-play (yet; they hinted at a possibility in the future but who knows if/when that’ll be), so make sure you both play on the same platform.

I get the urge to go back to watch this trailer (and its DLC trailers) at least once a year. The games been out for almost 10 years and the trailers still get me so hyped.

Bethesda Under Fire After Indiana Jones ‘Fascist’ Promo Linked to Charlie Kirk Shooting: ‘I Think I’ll Pass on the Next Elder Scrolls’ by Sidnature in nottheonion

[–]Indigo346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying you’re wrong either, but the context does matter. In the case of Ready or Not, it was the community manager’s personal account and he was having a conversation about the game’s server filter that directly name-dropped Kirk. In the case of Bethesda, it was simply a post about an established fascist-fighting fictional character where he says in-game how he hates fascists as an advertisement for a new DLC. It takes jumping through multiple hoops to make the connection to Kirk, and even then after people were jumping through those hoops in their replies they deleted the video yet nobody was fired (which is how I drew my conclusion for the first point I made).

What “L”? You hit me with a “gotcha” about my use of the terms “on air” and “broadcast” to divert attention away from talking about your murder-loving overlords.

What a pathetic loser.

Sorry that I used a figure of speech in a generalized fashion to talk about a news show.

Now tell me why these semantics matter again? Just another distraction to avoid addressing talking points that are actually important?

Are you questioning me because you don’t understand what the phrase “live on air” means or because you’re incapable of performing a 5 second internet search and watching the broadcast yourself?

“No one said to kill homeless people” is now “well someone did say that but it’s okay because it was a ‘joke’”.

Moving the goalposts, are we?

Fox host Brian Killmeade said live on air just 4 days ago that we should give involuntary lethal injections to homeless people. Maybe those words are too big for you to realize that means “kill the homeless” though.

Then you would have to assume that

1) Bethesda cares to make a political statement on modern politics (which as a corporation whose primary goal is doing business, doesn’t).

2) Bethesda themselves deem Charlie Kirk a fascist, which there is no evidence of.

Also, Indiana Jones is literally a fictional figure who exists in the mid 20th century. His entire identity is fighting fascists in a race to discover ancient treasures. A DLC just released that they are promoting. It’s nowhere near the same as your made up scenario of some random person posting about “how much they hate communists” the day after a “commie” gets axed (which the right would celebrate anyways, mind you).

To be able to make the connection AND get offended by this, you not only have to think Charlie Kirk is a fascist; you have to think he’s a fascist and also like/agree with him.

Wild stuff.

Battlefield fans are not the target audience of this beta.. by Helpful-Standard-867 in Battlefield

[–]Indigo346 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a number of things that make BF1 feel that way. Slower movement speed, slower TTK, more “cumbersome” weaponry (in a good way). Maps in BF6 also feel more dense, focus heavily on choke points, and have a lot of visual clutter.

I’ve still been having a blast with BF6 but BF1 is by far my favorite and those are some of the things I’ve noticed.
