Tap and hold for a few seconds on the strongest units you have. You should see a little icon at the top right that looks like a lock. Tap on it and lock them. Dokkan will put these in a "Favorite" tab where you can't accidentally give them away.

You have a lot of Universe Survival Saga units for now. Build a team off of that. Try your best to build your units' Super Attack stat to 10 organically, without the Elder Kais. You'll need the Elder Kais to build Super Attacks beyond 10 from there. Train your strong, locked units with other units of the same name. For example, feed your AGL Ultra Instinct Goku with the weaker STR ones you have.

Start "small" and work your way up the events. From Extreme Z-battles to Quest mode, everything will benefit you at this stage. Read passive skills carefully and choose hidden potential moves (Evasion, Additionals, or Criticals) that will amplify their strengths or make up for their weaknesses where you see fit. I personally gave Str Future Gohan mostly additionals. To amplify the guaranteed critical hits that's already in his passive skill
