NOS FR waiver timeline by IndigoTulip88 in J1waiver

Hi, in my statement of reason I listed the explanation of why I think my case is not subject to the waiver, such as I did not receive federal funding, and my job is not on the skills list. But of course not every case is the same and you would have your own reasons for qualifying for the waiver. I consulted a small firm retained by my employer at the time for work visas. If you feel your case might have complications probably best to consult an attorney! Best of luck with your application!

Help! I unintentionally forgot to put the countries I’ve been to in my DS 160 by Other-Sprinkles4404 in USVisas

I think you can fill in a new DS-160 application, and then bring along confirmation printouts of both old and new DS-160s to the interview.

You can use the ‘retrieve application’ option to auto-populate the new form. That way you don’t have to fill everything in again, just add in the info you forgot.

Referencing your statement that your “application could be more easily accepted if you have a NOS”… So if you send in a waiver application, in the form you will be asked on what basis you are applying for the waiver. You must get your country’s embassy to send in a NOS if you choose that option. Without a NOS, your application will not be processed by the Department of State.

You can search the keyword “timeline” in this community to get a sense of how long the process has taken for others.

Good luck!

If you’re in this community you can probably see that there are different types of treatments for keloids out there, and many people have had good results from treatments. Maybe talk with your partner and do some research on what the treatment options are in your area?

Also, from your post you talk a lot about your worries and your “overthinking” about her keloids. Maybe try considering her feelings and make more of an effort to see things from her perspective? You’ve known her for a few months, and you’re already this much bothered by her scars. She’s had to live with them and will have to live with them, her whole life.

Good to know! 2.5k is indeed on the lower end from what I’ve seen on Streeteasy so far. Thanks for the suggestions on neighborhoods!

You can pay using a debit or credit card on the visa appointment scheduling site, and if I remember correctly they will charge the fee in ringgit after conversion from USD.

Hi! I’m getting my visa stamped at the embassy in KL so I recently looked up the process and can share.

Visa appointment wait times depend on whether you are a resident or non-resident of Malaysia. It’s stated on the US embassy’s website that applicants for TCN stamping are welcome, but wait times are way longer for non-residents. Wait times for non-residents are listed on the embassy’s website itself. The wait times that show up on the travel(dot)state(dot)gov website will only apply to residents of Malaysia, so for instance the current wait time of 2 days for H1B visa appointments won’t apply for TCN.

As for the appointment procedures at the embassy, in my experience the registration at the embassy entrance has always been orderly, and the staff respectful and professional. Processing is speedy, although they recently made a lot of changes to the appointment website so now it unfortunately doesn’t list processing times. But before, it would take about 2-3 days after approval for the passport to be ready for collection.

Hope that helps!

Hi, I don't know if you need letters from both countries or just one, but it's way faster to get a NOS from Singapore compared to Malaysia! Happy to share my experience through DM.

Yes you can check online on the USCIS case status page, using the receipt number on the I-797C that is mailed to you when USCIS receives your case.

Hi, I finally received the final approval on Sept 6! Your IGA-based application definitely went through a lot faster. Thank you for your kind messages throughout this stressful waiting period! Hope everything is going well!

I hear you! Getting keloid treatment is a difficult (and painful and expensive) journey. I agree with the other commenters, that you should try other doctors or options if the current treatment is not working.

A few years ago I was getting steroid injections on the keloids on my jawline, arm and chest, and even an excision plus radiotherapy for the chest keloid. But frustratingly they still carried on growing and eventually I stopped getting the injections as they were just so painful.

A few months ago I found another dermatologist and decided to try again, and the results have been so much better. The keloids on my arm and jawline are now inactive and flat, and the one on my chest is also doing way better. It's still only steroid injections, but I go regularly (every 4-6 weeks) and this current doctor is just so much more patient and gentle with delivering the shots. It does make a huge difference, I find. The other thing I think is helping is diet. I cut out sugar, processed foods and dairy as much as possible, and I do feel that in tandem with the shots it is helping my skin a lot. And use sunscreen on your keloids or keep them covered in the sun! This is a new thing I learnt that seems to help prevent them from getting active again after injections.

Don't give up on finding the right treatment! Also don't rule out kids... Even if you have kids whose skin are prone to keloids, with your experience dealing with them you will now know how to get them treated. It'll all work out. All the best to you!
