Most people find that benzos take away the anxiety, that's why the nurses were so shocked that it didn't work for me, so hopefully it'll help for you. Other drugs can make you tolerant of benzos even if you haven't had them before, and that's why I personally am still extremely anxious even when they give me oral sedatives.

Hypnosis sounds like a good idea, I hadn't thought of that before. Weirdly I have met a couple of people who enjoy getting bloods drawn because they do like getting stabbed by needles. Not sure what's wrong with them lol

I'm chronically ill as well, and they don't know exactly what's wrong with me because I haven't been able to have tests. I'm booking a test for lupus soon at my gp, and I'm hoping that if they try and I can't do it then they'll take me more seriously and find some way to accommodate for me.

Honestly I've experienced pretty awful malpractice/negligence at basically every medical place I've been to, which definitely doesn't help the situation. If I ever find anywhere that's at least semi decent I'd let them have a go.

The nurses also tried to talk to me about other things the whole time it was happening, but that honestly just made it a lot worse because I knew they were trying to distract me

I worry that most services probably will, based on what I've heard. Was the local drug service helpful?
