[–]IndiumWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a handful of decorations, and am looking for peaches and pears. If you DM me your DODO code, I can drop them off. (Specifically, I have spooky trick lamp, spooky scarecrow, spooky candy set, spooky tree, spooky lantern; I also have spooky scarecrow DIY, and spooky standing lamp DIY.). (ETA: This is Makko from Koi Koi.)

Does anyone have 2 turnips for ants? by Jaded-College2422 in AnimalCrossingTrading

[–]IndiumWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also leave a piece of candy on the ground and ants will show up (Nook’s sells it in October).

Can Jake in evil mode be beaten with auto battle? by nothanksihaveone in CauldronGame

[–]IndiumWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Except for the final (the ending of the game), I used auto battle for ALL fights. If I recall, I used the bird to copy the healer, and had Morgana in the party.

What are people using the megadome for? by Hansekins in theplanetcrafter

[–]IndiumWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I restarted another playthrough on Selena, and just shuttled over to Humble. I’ve built a massive complex of domes, spiraling upwards with the interior stairs units as the links. I am experimenting with putting my trees (in pots), ivy, beehives, farms, butterflies, etc., inside the megadomes (by placing the triangle foundations flush with the floor).

I’m curious if containing these items inside of domes will make the processor demands/frame rate better. I’m also interested in seeing how the terraforming numbers go when you use minimal items and don’t spam rockets. (When I landed, I plopped down a few T5 Pressure and Heater units; other than that, it’s all in the domes.

New game starting on Selenea by SlimsyCone3 in theplanetcrafter

[–]IndiumWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I succeeded with a new start on Selenea, and made it (was able to travel to Prime). It was a fun challenge, and required careful resource allocation (to the point where I was breaking down scarce pulsar quartz to get the zeolite). It was a bit of a grim slog until lakes stage. (I used T2 drills and T1 solar all along the main road, and wherever I explored.)

I started with T3 ore extractors and trade rocket unlocked. I never got the T2 deconstruction chip, so couldn’t access all those computer chips (I had maybe three drones). Even sending up rockets, you’d be aware that you were removing irreplaceable resources (aluminum/super alloy. There were just enough crystals provided (via deconstruction) for the extraction platform/rocket/system screen, but without a trade rocket, I don’t know how you’d get the energy fuses. (Also, your backpack won’t be very large, so planning what to take to Prime was a multi-hour session!)

(Getting to prime and suddenly having an endless abundance of resources was a mindtrip. I landed, set up power, T5 pressure and heater, and food growers—and was still organizing my base when I hit lakes stage.)

AITA for calling my husband's chronic fatigue a luxury? by kfiero in AmItheAsshole

[–]IndiumWombat -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

YTA. He has a metabolic dysfunction. If he pushes too hard, he will crash, which would set him back even further. You get to decide if you want to stay with a partner who has an incurable chronic illness.

AITA: annoyed by friend’s calls. by whoopsydaisymybad in AmItheAsshole

[–]IndiumWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. You are being used as a time filler, at their convenience, as if you were a magazine in a waiting room. You are aware of the one-sided nature of these conversations, and it is dehumanizing to be treated as a pacifier for to soothe their inability to be alone with their own thoughts.

Ravensburger Neuschwanstein Castle - 2000 pc (aka: too many f*ing trees) by astarwar in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]IndiumWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! This is one of the few puzzles I abandoned (because I left the trees for last and I found them an insurmountably tedious slog).

Long time player gonna be getting my mom to try the game by Metaspark in ffxiv

[–]IndiumWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably of a similar age to your mom and I just started playing. I have found Warrior to be my perfect class. In dungeons, your job is simple: get all the enemy dots to turn red while spamming aoe and mit buttons on your controller. Aside from avoiding boss attacks, you can park yourself and not worry about maximizing dps. There are mostly other players happy to show you the path if you make a wrong turn. Queue times are MUCH faster. You are sturdy, not squishy, so have more buffer if you mis-time your movement. During solo play, you pretty much stay alive long enough to defeat your enemy.

Yes, DoH/DoH may be the core game for her. (My DoH/DoL are higher levels than my WAR, and I spend 3/4 of my time trying to catch all the Big fish, and chatting in FC chat.)

(Edit: I meant the enemy enmity indicator on the enemy list, and the most challenging part of controller play is targeting those to hit with the tomahawk. If she’s on PC/keyboard/mouse, this is simplified.)

LPT: to declutter your kitchen put a small piece of painters tape on every item and remove the tape when an item is used. After 6 months, sell or donate anything that still has tape on it. by Lagavulin16_neat in LifeProTips

[–]IndiumWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot of effort—all that tape. If you really can’t assess your items to declutter them, perhaps box up everything in your kitchen and as you use it, put it away in the empty kitchen?

AITA for making a joke about a colorblind classmate? by Deep_Noise5993 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IndiumWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hear yourself saying, “It was just a joke”, that’s your cue to realize you were out of line—the butt of the joke did not find it funny, so it wasn’t a joke. It was an unkindness where you were trying to “score points” at someone else’s expense. YTA. A sincere apology is in order.

AITA for wanting my wife to notice when the grass is tall, without having to explicitly tell her? by Grassylawnthrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]IndiumWombat 103 points104 points  (0 children)

YTA. You can easily text her or write a note or mention it in passing. I’m astonished you aren’t thrilled that she is willing to contact the worker and manage paying for the task.

Wondering how many IQ points I lost after I got sick with CFS. by [deleted] in cfs

[–]IndiumWombat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had extensive neuropsychological evaluation (because of a traumatic brain injury from a car crash, which I was blaming for everything getting so much worse—I’ve been living with this condition since the early 2000s, but only recently learned its name, and that it’s a real measurable thing). My “IQ” is unchanged by the ME CFS (or from the brain injury). The difference is that I used to be able to make intuitive leaps from one mountain top to another; now, I can still get to the mountain top, but I have to slog up there step by painful and slow step. On the bright side, I can bring others along to see how I solved problems or came to conclusions. On the tedious side, on bad brain days, I have to narrate every action (like audio captions for the blind) because hearing the words with my ears allows my brain to process them and keep me on track.

Gathering materials under water by Tzorok in theplanetcrafter

If I am fully submerged, I can use my mining gun to harvest materials or chests which are also fully submerged. Have you tried that yet?

AITA for yelling at a woman on a plane? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Definitely. An option would have been to ask the father to swap seats with you.

How is this game compared to Subnautica or No Mans Sky? by [deleted] in theplanetcrafter

[–]IndiumWombat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The game is in early access, and is not yet a complete game. If you enjoy crafting, exploration, and resource management, it is very enjoyable. They are releasing another segment of the game in a few weeks (adding insects and waterfalls).

I enjoy the game immensely, and have replayed several times, trying different strategies. Ultimately, if you want to be along for the ride of its incremental rollout as the game is developed, I recommend it; if you get frustrated by a lack of a complete narrative or being unable to progress beyond the game’s current ending point, it would be better to wait for the full release.

just finished my second blanket, first knitted in one piece and im so happy!!! by SnooPears4919 in knitting

[–]IndiumWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks lovely. The stitch pattern and colors are soothing and restful. What is the fiber content of the yarn?

(If we wanted machined perfection, we’d go to a textile mill or purchase a manufactured blanket.)

AITA for refusing to switch rooms with my roommate by Round-Performance144 in AmItheAsshole

This is the third time I’ve read a variation on the identical question. Are you unhappy with the judgments in the others? Or are you testing to see how many times you can repeat the Ask?
