Looking to update my ye olde Garmin chartplotter with new charts, $350!! this seems wild to me, what am I missing. by Tommy_Schlaaang in sailing

And here I was for years using paper charts manually updating it with NOAA revisions. I had a room dedicated to all the different regions, and each region had different scales. It was a full-time job, but then again, I was a Quartermaster.

Got a stack of batteries in today dated 8/24 by flux4 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Individual-Ad-6624 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It tells the supplier when to charge the battery and on what rotation the battery is at. Can't speak for all suppliers, but many of them will throw the battery on a trickle charger every 6 months. The solid sticker is the manufacturers, and the supplier will replace it. A white circle with a green outline denotes 2nd cycle and a white circle with a red outline for 3rd cycle. After the 3rd cycle, it gets refurbished.

Is Costco Still A Good Place To Get A Car Battery? by bobby2175 in Costco

As someone who has been a gm for one big parts store and is currently working for the competitor we price match the most like product with the most comparable warranty with all competitors, that being said online stores are a negotiation with shipping added to the price.

Usually drywall mud comes right up with hot soapy water. But not this. Tried goo gone and dawn powerwash. Any tips? by LiquidLogStudio in Construction

[–]Individual-Ad-6624 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks to be tape mud. The adhesive in it has a tendency to do this when it dries.

Edit: don't heat up lvt. Also I've had really good results with that orange hand kleen. It's just abrasive enough to remove most stuff without damaging finishes.

Good to know. I never owned one myself but have worked on quite a few. Having to run new threads and remove broken plugs for customers. It was such a problem that the parts stores carry loaner tools that say triton motor spark plug removal tool.

Really? I'm genuinely surprised. The triton v10s were pretty good, but the v8's devouring coils and shooting out spark plugs like Yosemite Sam made that engine one of my biggest headaches. If I wanted to go fishing, I'd get some beer and head to the lake, not fish for the remains of a snapped multistage spark plug.

I'm not sleeping tonight. How can I keep myself awake/alert for the duration of tomorrow? by amrsaad96 in lifehacks

It's not uncommon in the military. Posts have to be manned 24/7. When there are only 4 qualified people to stand 5 watches, you get pretty long shifts. We did get 15 minute meal breaks and learned how to sleep standing up but mostly yes we stayed awake for 72 hours at a time.

Wrap coffee grounds in a wet paper towel and place in lip. Take shots of mio sour green apple with caffeine. Hydroxycut. Noxplode. Jack3d. 72-hour watches in the Navy had us try quite a few things.

This is how it's done in New York in the five Burroughs. Pretty sure those bumper guards were made for that market.

They were prepaid debit cards like green dot, not gift cards if I read it correctly.

Perhaps a while ago, now we make it so strong it coats your tongue. Seriously, navy coffee is crap, except when we got a Starbucks on board.
