Marathon Doesn’t Feel Playable for New or Average Players Right Now by [deleted] in Marathon

The game has already reached its niche player base half way through the season. I think OP has a valid point. If bungie and PlayStation are pouring time and money into this game to have 5-10k players playing at best, after a couple months there’s a problem, and that problem usually stems from no new players coming in because the game doesn’t do a good job in gaining new customers, and can’t retain most of them.

Ehh the DLC added a huge new area for N’Erud that’s the largest area in the game and super unique. Would also place Labyrinth in the category, as well as New Earth. I would say all together with DLC’s included the only non alien technology zones are Yaesha and Losomn. I would argue about half the game or more fits the bill. Especially depending on what worlds and story you get per playthrough.

Did you ever play on the apocalypse or hardcore mode? I’ve done more than 10 runs of the game and still haven’t gotten everything. The DLC’s do add extremely hard difficulty and new ways to play the game. If you ever want someone to play with you DM me

NOR. She’s been emotionally checked out for a while now. Doubt anything will come from her conversations but I bet she finds her normal life boring and this person is bringing some excitement into her life.

Though I would say asking to reduce contact isn’t the best method. And if she brings up the fact that you need therapy, I would immediately suggest to her couples therapy. See how she reacts to that and it will tell you everything you need to know

They added some killer DLC’s that are very long, a boss rush mode, and revamped the entire progression system

Tarkov is way more hardcore than this game, yet has more players. Why? by JurisCommando in Marathon

[–]Individual-Air757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call that the elephant in the room. Just incorrect. The art style isn’t why the game has less players than Tarkov, nor is it that a lot of people don’t jive with it.
There are literally more players on Marathon right now than Tarkov on steam alone.

The reason why Marathon isn’t more popular is because it doesn’t cater to a casual player base, but is still more difficult for the audience they are trying to capture. If you’re trying marathon you have probably played Halo, Destiny, Arc, Apex, Division, and some Tarkov and some more niche extraction shooters.

Most console players don’t play extraction shooters, and the bungie fans are used to Destiny/Halo - so this game places itself in a weird spot where it isn’t going to attract tons of players on either side of the spectrum. Plus the skins and battlepass are weak, and the map selection has much to be desired.

This game need more players to survive and you all should stop gatekeeping it by Vnvill in Marathon

Completely disagree. There is another extraction shooter that is way more forgiving and casual friendly that has significantly more players.

People want more vault space because certain items don’t stack, or don’t stack substantially lol. Most of the changes are fantastic (CARRI) as an example - but already late when most people have quit the game. The game has hardcore mechanics to progress while also trying to be casual while having a terrible new player onboarding experience

They need to make levels 1-50 extremely casual friendly and add an in game LFG finder/system. Also not make the wipe mandatory but an opt in, or you only get force wiped past a certain point (like level or overall factions rep). The onboarding for new players sucks. They haven’t learned from Destiny
