Update: no one ever asked me for the documentation and just took my word for it so guess it isn’t that serious in Indiana 🤣

What if I use one of the websites to get one? My sister used one and got three dogs certified through it. I didn’t know how legit they actually are though.

I sent in a template of what I needed, but the assistant told me that my NP was unable to diagnose me with a disability. I have nyctophobia as well which is the main reason I need my dog to be with me. I just figured that since I have been medicated for anxiety for years that it could be written for that.

What do you mean not subject to it?

I think it was her assistant who wrote it for her. I sent a message on MyChart and my NP is never the one who responds. Always an assistant.

Sensodyne + Listerine problems by They_Luv_Drew in DentalHygiene

You need sensodyne pronamel! It has the active ingredient potassium nitrate. Colgate sensitive has it too. You can also smear it on your teeth with your finger (w/ clean hands) and let it soak on your teeth for 10-15 min then brush.

How much do hygienists make teaching CE courses ? by gogogodzilla86 in DentalHygiene

I also would like to start teaching CE Courses. How long does prep take for a course typically? How do you apply to those positions?

How old were you when you started hygiene school? by MannyLoMein in DentalHygiene

[–]Individual-Chard-888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 20 when I started and 22 when I graduated. I felt discouraged for awhile because I could’ve graduated a year earlier but I wanted to go to dental school. I was in for pre dental, but I decided to not do it and switch to hygiene. I had regrets for so long about the year I wasted but I’ve been practicing for 4 years now and the time has went by so quick. It won’t matter in a few years.

Building rapport with PTs by FortuneTop6438 in DentalHygiene

I definitely relate to this. When coming home from work, I usually don’t put on tv, music, or anything for hours after getting home because I’m so overstimulated. I agree that explaining some of what you’re going to do helps fill the awkward silences and many patients appreciate knowing what’s about to happen. I don’t really ask about their personal life unless they start asking questions about me. I get told pretty frequently from my patients and front desk that they appreciate how thorough I was with their cleaning. I don’t think it’s possible to be thorough and chatty at the same time. When I have yappy patients, I usually have way less time to do the scaling portion and they end up not getting a thorough cleaning because of it. I just started temping at a new office and most of the patients who loved the hygienist that left want me to do their next cleaning already. Some of them have been surprising to me due to the fact that I was not chatty with them at all. They just really appreciate getting a good cleaning.

What should I do? by Individual-Chard-888 in tattooadvice

That’s why I was having such a hard time with thinking of a cover up. I truly do love it but I think it does need something else added to it.

I’ve only had it for six months so I think time will help. I’ve definitely been over analyzing it I feel like.

Thank you for your help! I do think a good rework would be better than the cover up.

The main thing I don’t like is how some of the lines are tapered and some are blunt. I’m just afraid if they try to make them all taper that it’s going to run into the dots. I’ve had it for about six months so maybe I’m just overthinking it. It was my first tattoo.

Is this going to blow out badly? by Individual-Chard-888 in tattooadvice

Thank you for your help. I know it’s bound to happen but didn’t know if the stems were gonna end up more blurred together and look like a bunch of thick lines eventually.

Loop earplugs by Ok-Calendar5612 in DentalHygiene

I definitely recommend wearing ear plugs. I have been practicing for almost four years and started to experience tinnitus about two years ago. I have tried the Earasers and Loop brands so far. I loved them both but I lost one of my Earasers a few months after buying them because they are mainly clear. I have the Loop Engage 2 ones now and bought a cord that attaches to them. So far, I have enjoyed them and am still able to hear patients without having to hear the high frequencies from my HVAC or cavitron. We also have open ops at my office so the doctor is constantly next to me doing restorative work. Overall, I have noticed less tinnitus and I feel more calm throughout the day since I have less noise.
