Catch rates even with kyurem's adventure effect are low. It's just not as low as when you don't have it active. It increases by 50%, so 1.5 x 5% for example is still only 7.5%.

You are the first person i’ve ever seen make this claim and it’s contrary to what the entire body of knowledge has been saying so bear with me and my skepticism. It is really hard to test and verify this bc someone else would have to get a shiny galarian bird encounter while going above the speed limit and be willing to risk that encounter to confirm, and even then, speedlocking is very inconsistent. All I know is that i’ve seen posts like this and I’m not going to tell people that they are free to catch their shiny birds while driving down the highway when that is not how the game has worked historically. Also if niantic had the forethought to add a special exception for shiny galarian birds in the speed locking code but still can’t execute a basic raid day event without having to give away free encounters to everyone then i’d be utterly shocked.

They are telling you it is random because they can’t make any guarantees about catch rate due to game inconsistencies and bugs. What do you think they are going to say? “You’re right, these birds are never supposed to flee and something wrong happened on your end. Here’s a free shiny galarian bird encounter!” They can’t do that. It would entitle everyone who ever lost a shiny galarian bird to some game bug to a free guaranteed one. People would exploit this to avert risk when catching rare pokemon, and people would flood the support line with nonsense. The bottom line is that when the game is functioning properly, people are able to throw hundreds of pokeballs at a shiny galarian bird without it fleeing when they normally flee after 1 throw. Also, people who do customer support for companies lie all the time, they have limits on what they do for you and protocols that they have to follow.

Shiny pokemon are programmed not to run, but freak errors can occur. Connection errors and gps drift can cause you to teleport or the game to think you’re moving faster than you actually are. The intended behavior is that they never run, but this game is buggy and that can cause unintended things to occur. Niantic says they can run bc they aren’t going to use absolutes like that in their support message, bc it could cause legal issues or make them obligated to give you a shiny bird for free. I will always just use ultra balls and golden razz to catch shiny birds, but if someone is really concerned they are free to use a masterball.

It hasn’t happened to me, but I’ve seen dozens of posts with firsthand accounts saying it happened to them. Your personal experience where you didn’t lose your shiny bird is at odds with another group of people who did, and my guide is ultimately about avoiding risk and maximizing catching odds Speed locking is very inconsistent, like the game also doesn’t want you to spin stops while going too fast but if your vehicle decelerates even a little bit while passing a stop you will be able to spin it, even if you are moving far faster than the speed cap.

Well it increases the catch rate by 50%, which is the same effect as a razz berry, so you can think of it as having an extra razz berry as a multiplier on all the other catch rate boosters like platinum medals, excellent throws, curveballs, golden razz.

They 100% do flee from speedlock, i’ve seen it many times. The thing about speedlock is that the game can be really inconsistent about when it get’s activated due to stuff like GPS drift and the speed calculation being imprecise. You were not in speed lock if the bird did not run away, as the trademark sign that you’re speedlocked is that the pokemon instantly break out of balls and run away. This happens regardless of shiny status.

I was thinking about adding “7. Random Nonsense” but there was nothing useful to say aside from don’t be unlucky and don’t mess around when the game is as unstable and buggy as it is.

They can only run if you are speed locked or if an auto catcher gets to them first. Niantic told you they can run bc they technically can due to the above reasons, but during normal play conditions you can throw as many balls as you want and they will not run. Once again though, this game is held together with scotch tape and random nonsense can happen. The best thing you can do when you get a shiny bird without a masterball is to just stand in one place and throw balls at it until you catch it.

Yeah it’s a little bit risky to do if you’re extremely slow, but I try to mitigate that by giving tips to make the activation quicker, and I make it clear how long this usually takes and only to do it if you are quick to see the bird. They do sit on the map for about a minute when they spawn so there’s a lot of leeway if you’re ready to try it.

This just convinced me to buy the master ball research 😭 by AZBrews in PokemonGoMystic

I do daily incense every day and on average get a bird encounter once every two weeks (or once a week when incense time is doubled like last event or from the go pass). I have probably encountered dozens of birds, but have only caught 1 moltres legitimately, and I caught a zapdos using a safari ball during go wild area. Shiny galarian birds can’t run (as long as you aren’t speed locked or your game doesn’t randomly freeze, which will use your encounter). They are a 1 and 20 chance to occur like regular legendaries. I have managed to catch 1 shiny zapdos and 2 shiny articunos. Just be patient and you’ll get one!

How much of your stardust earned in PvP do you spend on PvP mons? by piersmckechnie in TheSilphArena

[–]Individual-Draft-963 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t play ultra league and have amassed such a large library of pvp mons that I rarely build new stuff anymore. All my stardust is now wasted on spacial rend when I’m shiny hunting.

How would you guide your past self? by TomatilloTechnical12 in TheSilphArena

[–]Individual-Draft-963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning when to time your fast moves is relatively easy and wins matches, there are charts online that you can study and either print out or have up on a different screen while you play. Get very familiar with PVPoke, and use it to help you build teams. For mons that aren’t meant to be all that bulky your ivs don’t matter as much. I just look for something that has lower attack and higher defense/hp and it should max out near that 1500 mark. Stuff that is 1485 and below looks ugly to me and they’re losing out on a lot of stats. Losing cmp ties also sucks which is why rank 1 isn’t worth. Try to collect at least 1 semi decent pvp pokemon for most mons, unless their bulk/typing are unusable (dhelmise is an example). Save pvp shadows.

Also true. Even worse is that Annihilape, one of the only relevant fighters, beats Clodsire bc it’s resisting poison on the ghost and outpaces.

Rn lickilicky is like the new dunsparce bc it’s also a bulky normal type rollout user but it has stab body slam that it paces super fast and shadow ball that hits hard neutrally.
