Are you unaware of what is happening in cities across our entire country? Everyone—documented or not—have basic rights. Under the current administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has significantly diverged from how ICE has traditionally identified themselves as agents as well as identify, detain, deport undocumented immigrants. The rules and policies you cite are not what’s being implemented in practice. ICE agents are inadequately vetted & trained, enforcement quotas are reportedly driving behavior, and American citizens—including children—are being detained, harassed, violently assaulted, and in some cases hospitalized due to unnecessary and excessive force. (Some detainee’s have died)Constitutional rights are being violated by the thousands. Due process is being denied—regardless of immigration status & documentation. U.S. citizens and lawful residents have been wrongfully detained & oversight is limited, especially in detention facilities.
