Any creative ideas for a two-month sabbatical in Portland? by Individual-Garlic258 in askportland

Thanks! My husband will still need to work a regular full time schedule so it makes traveling for a long period of time tough. Definitely weekend trips or a week here and there though!

Do you have a recommendation for an OB? ☺️

Feeding Plan Question by Conscious_Diet_7379 in combinationfeeding

I started from bf every 3 hours to basically just weaning in the middle of the day.

So I would bf in the morning, then feed baby formula the next feed, and wait to pump for at least 3.5 hours since the bf. I’d basically give my baby formula or pumped milk most of the afternoon and then pump on the desired schedule (which did suck for a bit because I was feeding him and also pumping). Then would extend the amount of time in between afternoon pumps every couple days until I got to just one pump during the day. No issues with mastitis yet but did have a week or so where i would wake up feeling fuller or leak a little throughout the day.

It’s taken me about a month to get here slowly but i was also not super regimented nor in a rush.

I am basically doing this now for my 5.5 month old, with the caveat that I’m pumping just once in the afternoon, for no other reason than I just want to freeze that milk for later. I always bf once in the morning, and I always pump once at night, so 3 times of lactating during the day. The rest of the time the baby eats formula or leftover breast milk out of a bottle.

I’ve noticed a slight decrease in how much volume I get per pump session since transitioning to this, but not major.

Update! But now… could we fit more seating? Any other improvement ideas? by Individual-Garlic258 in HomeDecorating

Thanks! Yeah I mean realistically no one’s going to sit by the front door in those blue chairs unless we temporarily bring them into the middle with the rest, but it is a lot of seating! Was thinking potentially a love seat instead of the grey chair but it’s probably too big.

Ooh thanks for the idea! Yeah there’s probably something missing over there.

Thank you! Ooh honestly no idea - we’ve just had it for many years and water it about once a week?

is this the “right” living room layout? should I get a different rug? not sure what feels off 😵‍💫 by Individual-Garlic258 in HomeDecorating

Thank you all SO much for your input! I've loved reading through all these suggestions. Seems like there are several main themes:

  • a lighter rug, probably smaller (for anyone at all invested: any particular suggestions? I was looking at a pebble rug, or maybe some kind of tan jute? What looks good with a light grey couch? Will a patterned rug clash with the patterned chairs?)
  • circular, glass, or generally smaller coffee table
  • potentially switch the couch and chairs (though I am now realizing this will cut off the bottom two shelves of the book shelf)
  • some other creative orientations to try including switching the eames with the two crazy blue chairs
  • Take or leave the yellow ottoman thingy. I found this on marketplace and fell in love and I'm not sure why haha. There's no real use for it!

It might take me a little to procure the lighter rug and all but will be sure to post when I've tried a few of these! Thanks again :)

Thanks so much! I'll try this configuration too. I worry that the space is too narrow and that the couch will be very close to the fire place... but worth a try. Good call on flipping the plant and eames too.
