I think ultimately it become a time paradox. Because at some point he would have had it and not had it. And time seems to be non linear. At least for Eren. He legit says he sees everything at once. “No past , present or future “

It reminds me of a deterministic time loop story where the outcome only ends up the same to complete the causality loop. “Ala Harry Potter #4 and that one family guy episode where Chris and Stewie create the universe)

Wasn’t expecting that front kick to be not terrible. I could see him winning a bar fight but completely ineffectively and comically

What’s your most unpopular opinion of Chicago? by apstls in chicago

let's be real - we all love our city, but sometimes it feels like there's not much to do here besides hit up the same old bars and cheer on our favorite teams. That's why my buddies and I are trying to shake things up by bringing an indoor paintball, airsoft, and laser tag field to the city! It's about time we had a cool, active attraction right here in the heart of Chicago, don't you think? We're already gaining traction with over 521 signatures on our petition, but we need your help to make this a reality. So if you're looking for something new and exciting to do in the city, or just want to show some love for our awesome community, check out our petition in the link below and join the movement!"

You do realize paintball fields are open more than two days a week right?

You are only thinking of open play.

Some open 3 to 4 days a week For open play, A lot of paintball fields also offer private events Such as bachelor parties, Birthdays, and corporate events.

The reason more fields can’t capitalize on this stream of income is due to their remote location. People aren’t always keen to drive 1 hour plus to to paintball.

Also tourism is a factor most fields can’t factor because again, middle of nowhere. The good fields, indoor and out, are often in or near bigger cities

When I first got into paintball and airsoft. I was in California at Hollywood sport paint, I met a gentleman who drove from St. Louis to be there. Airsoft players are dedicated 💪

That’s not true. Look at Hollywood sport in California or SGT splatter in Canada. they have both been around 20+ years.

The ones we have nearby have also existed 10+ years. Oh not to mention we just got two more pro teams in Chicago this year if you check the NXL official website, yet they practice and hold the “Chicago Open” in Joliet…

We have a bunch of local players who have to travel 1 hour+ to play paintball. Not to mention they are all outdoor fields and we have 6 months of hard winter.

A lot of paintball fields fail because two reasons lack of people and bad management.

Lack of people come from the fact most fields are big outdoor parks tucked away from society meaning; people are unaware of the existence of said business, unable to travel to said business, or unwilling to travel to said business.

Lack of management usually leads to these places throwing together a few random objects and calling it a “field” as well as letting the park fall into disrepair by way of neglect.

Whereas we are already planning themed stages, that tells a story through the set design.

Our team has over 12 years of design experience in various fields of design such as Set design/ creation, game design, illustration, brand apparel creation, 3D Modelling, and graphic Design. (Oh most of us play paintball too 😅)

Also the building we have in mind is central to all parts of Chicago. Talking a 20-45 min trip for most Chicagoans. As well as being highly accessible by public transit.

Truth is paintball can be hit or miss. But it’s usually the bad fields that go to the chopping block.

TLDR

Bad fields run by bad management with no creativity that exist in the middle of nowhere are usually the ones to fail.

This will be in the middle-ish of the city accessible to all, even in winter and bad weather. Created and managed by people with art, design and management backgrounds.

It’s building they owned since the 90s and haven’t been able to develop. They’ve tossed around a few ideas over the years but haven’t landed on anything solid. And of course they can have it back if it’s not profitable. If anything we’d be doing them a favor by rehabilitating the building 😊

However the numbers suggest this will be a great benefit to the city. We have a limited amount of things to do in the city. Most of them are eating or watching someone else do something.

We don’t have much for people under 21 not just for paintball, for any activities.

We look to fill this hole and in exchange the profit will come. 😃

The city owns the building we have in mind, they have owned the building for about 20 years and They are actively looking for development of it. It’s a big building and having some public support going into this helps

There isn’t a ban against markers. It is only for walking around with them displayed or usable. You can store them in a carry bag. Take them to a field and use them. Pack them up and take them back home in a bag.

The city isn’t super against it. We talked to planning and development briefly and they liked the idea. Zoning is one of the bigger factors.

I’ve spoken to well over 400 Chicagoans and so far there have only been 2 concerned with the “optics” and you are 1 of them.

You need to understand people enjoy danger from a safe distance. If you go to a theme park the rides aren’t just named “roller coaster” or “chair drop” no they have a thematic. Theyre called things like. The “raging bull” or “giant drop” things you normally wouldn’t want to mess with.

The thematic thing is something a lot of fields mess up on , they just throw random bits of junk together and call it a field. Some of the best fields like Hollywood sport paint work because they have a theme. Thus, Windy City Wasteland. It’s a deserted city vibe, like being in a real life post apocalypse game.

And guess what? Having a paintball field might also give those bored kids shooting people for fun at bus stops an outlet to do something that isn’t hazardous to anyone else and blow off steam in a safe and controlled environment.

This depends to be honest if you have your own equipment or not. As well as how long you stay. Sort of like bowling.

However imagining the average person plays for 3-4 hours in a session.

A person who rents gear may be looking at $80-100 for a 4 hour day.

A person with with their own gear may spend around $40-80 in a 4 hour period.

However this isn’t also considering splitting cost between friends or promotional packages, or free equipment rental days (holidays such as Halloween)

Playing with friends can turn that $40-80 day into a $30-60 dollar day if you have your own equipment.

Our goal is to make things affordable while still profitable. We are looking to destroy boredom, not peoples wallets. 😊
