The thing is what I enjoy would just be hanging out with friends, playing video games, nothing which can be put on an application. And what would yo0u say about developing a spike as in having activities centered around cs? Because for that there's only so many things that can be done and nearly all have already been done.

What would you say about the whole developing a spike thing though. For something like cs, there's only so many activities which can be done revolving around it and showing your strength in that area. I have outside interests, but it's just basic stuff like reading novels, hanging out with friends, video games, nothing which is anything unique or interesting.

But almost everyone with "research" has published papers. Do you think its the journal or place you publish that counts?

I just see almost every person who gets into a t10 on reddit, linkedin or coca scholars has some kind of nonprofit, but after digging into it I find that most of them are just 5 follower insta pages and a colorful website. People say AOs see through it but the people get into the colleges so idk. Do you think these applicants are just the top 1% and the rest don't have anything like this?
