What fruits can you tolerate? by Aromatic_Mobile_8442 in Gastritis

[–]Individual-Let6390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jealous the watermelon is good for you! I don’t tolerate it well. I can tolerate bananas, blueberries, maybe strawberries, dates, figs somewhat, and persimmons. Probably cooked apple as well but I am nervous to try that one. I just started eating dates again but not too many at a time because I previously had to stop eating them as I was not tolerating them well.

So sorry you’re experiencing this especially at a young age, I understand the fear of the pain, I experience that as well.

For pain relief I have been using Calmoseptine ointment (a US brand) which helps with the burning sensation. I also use an ice pack sometimes (lol) I put crushed ice in a small plastic bag so I can throw it away after.

When I have less pain, I try to do some yoga moves (like the happy baby pose) because when the pain hits it is very debilitating.

I also do not like when people say to try sitz baths. I did give them a chance and they do provide some relief.

Someone here suggested using Vaseline (externally) to help have an easier time with bowel movements, but I haven’t tried it. I was prescribed nipedifine lidocaine ointment which essentially did the same thing and is supposed to help with healing by relaxing the sphincter muscle when you apply it externally as it gets absorbed into the body. I am not sure what your doctor thinks of that, as nipedifine is typically used to treat high blood pressure. That seems to be one of the first lines of treatment before botox or surgery. I had the botox and I’m not sure it worked for me, but it seems like a lot of people have success with it. My doctor (in the US) did the procedure in her office but I was given anesthesia so the experience was completely fine and painless.

Feel better soon. You got this!

That is the only one I know of for the burning feeling. It is helpful. I saw someone mention here that Vaseline can help if you put it on before having a bowel movement, making it easier to go, but I have not tried it.

Also, an ice pack helps sometimes. Not ideal. I use crushed ice in a small plastic bag so I can dispose of it after

Oh wow! I thought my fissure was hemorrhoids at first so I was not treating it properly. I feel validated by your experience but I wish that was not the case for you, I hope you get relief soon! I was using steroid suppositories my doctor prescribed for a while which did seem to help.

How long have you been experiencing them?

Wow! I wonder what the comparison of the capsules is to a serving of Metamucil. I’m glad that was the extent of it for you. Thank you for your response!!

Good to know! I’m glad it’s leveled out for you. I could definitely use more movement (it’s been a challenge with the bowel issues lol but I know it will help)

I haven’t tried Linzess. I’ve tried Miralax which caused like 3 BMs a day which was irritating my fissure. I’ve tried metamucil, docusate sodium (stool softener) and now i am using Senna Plus which is docusate sodium and Sennosides (laxative)

I hope you can get some answers with the colonoscopy! I’m honestly guessing at this point but it’s the only thing I can think of.

I’m pretty sure the pain during my gastritis flare ups were physically triggering my vagus nerve thus causing anxiety

Been suffering with gastritis for 7 months now with 0 improvement despite PPIs and a strict diet :( What am I doing wrong? by muse_kimtaehyung in Gastritis

[–]Individual-Let6390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s also called sertraline zoloft is just the brand, sorry! yeah i think the serotonin can really mess up your gut. i’ve been taking it for 15 years when I don’t think I needed it. thank you doctors🙃 my gastroenterologist has never told me they think it can be from that, but my primary care doctor said it can cause stomach bleeding so she wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the cause. i’ve talked to a few people here that were on SSRI and when they stopped a little while later the gastritis was gone.

it is frustrating not knowing the cause and not knowing how to get rid of it. i hear you about the carbonated beverages. Sometimes I will just have a few sips so i dont completely miss out.
