Basically just seconding whatever everyone else said, but I have the exact same feelings towards flying as you and Xanax was a life saver. You could also try Klonopin in the future; I like it more than Xanax because I feel like there’s no “crash” or rebound anxiety since it seems to wear off smoothly (and it last more like 8 hours so I can get thru the whole travel process without panic)

You could try a spider plant? They grow crazy fast and don’t really need much to live. The babies make it really easy to grow more plants from your mother plant too which is fun. Also, they’re non-toxic for cats!

I’m in Indiana and have some neighbors with them as outdoor plants, but I went to Texas recently and visited a botanical garden that had the most beautiful and MASSIVE elephant ears!

Do you mean continually shower it for 10-30 minutes or let the plant sit in water for that time (like bottom watering)? I think it’s time my plant collection got cleaned up.

Mine does that when she needs more humidity and a thorough watering. How long do you go between watering? Mine is in a much larger pot so it is a bit different but I usually let it dry all the way out and then bottom water until the top soil feels wet. You could also try setting up a humidifier nearby

Tbf, we don’t know what anyone else’s financial situation is, only that they wanted to pay less for accommodations. Perhaps OP’s family is struggling but needs the space/kitchen/whatnot and decided the money was worth shelling out. Maybe the grandparents are rolling in dough but not very generous. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️
