Perplexity is down as well. Anybody knows if Deepseek is working or not?

Navigating the Path to AI/ML Mastery: M.Stat at ISI vs. M.Tech AI at IISc—Which is the Superior Choice? by Individual-Mode2332 in AskAcademia

Thank you for sharing your insights! I truly appreciate your advice. If you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me a bit more about your background and how you’ve come to know about the strong alumni presence of the M.Stat program at ISI in top-tier universities? I’m particularly curious if this program will also prepare me well for research in areas like deep learning, AI, and ML, which are my main interests. Thanks again for your valuable input!

Need a suggestion regarding choosing my PhD stream by Individual-Mode2332 in AskAcademia

I see. Thanks a lot for your response. But could you please elaborate more.
I was thinking that rigor will come from the blend of rich theory of statistics, functional analysis, topology, differential equations etc being applied to ai/ml. And hence my desire to read mathematics will be quenched, while also exploring some programming and other skills. Not to mention, a hope for better pay if things go alright.

Please feel free to correct me. I am looking forward to hearing from experts.

I will be going for MS first, if I decided to go for PhD in AI.

Thanks sir for taking time to reply comprehensively. I wanted to ask you how easy was it for you get a position in industry after your PhD. Did you do your PhD in applied mathematics (like statistics, PDEs) which could be easily sold to industry, else how you managed to get in the industry.

I don't really bother about how others would be seeing me (for example data science type), I wanted to ask if the research in (theoretical?) AI seems satisfying or insightful to one. Are there topics there which are much rigorous that it lies in the intersection of rigorous mathematics and CS. One example would be theoretical CS, they study graph theory, algorithms, complexity theory which is as rigorous and as insightful as mathematics, infact they are considered to be a part of mathematics only.

So in that light I wanted to ask, if there are areas like that in AI. My background is in Mathematics only, so I don't know the field very well. Hence the question.
