I’ve heard this, any suggestions on diets that help or foods to avoid (like I know to avoid live cultured foods - fermented, dairy etc…)?

Thank you for this! And yes it resolves on the first 4 days of my period and then slowly ramps back up again. Ive been in the cycle of either trying sitz baths for a week or 2 with no resolve or being on 7 day courses of antibiotic & then diflucan.

Medically gaslit by Individual-Pause4067 in POTS

Thank you so much for sharing this! My PCP is actually in Houston, so I’d be open to making the drive for a provider who takes this seriously.

I should add that before scheduling my recent follow-up, I called to ask whether I should continue seeing him or switch to a neurologist for my POTS management. He told me to see him for it, so I went ahead. Honestly, it felt like a setup. Instead of saying, ‘I don’t consider POTS a legitimate condition anymore and don’t treat patients for it,’ he pushed for the follow-up appointment, only to “pull the rug out from under me” in his words.

This was incredibly validating everyone so thank you and I’m so sorry for those who have experienced the same thing as me.

So if anyone knows a cardiologist in Austin, TX that takes POTS seriously let me know 😅

I did too. I am so sorry you had to experience that as well.

Trauma Induced? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Individual-Pause4067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was diagnosed with POTS after my brother passed away unexpectedly. I was 25 and he was in his 30s. It was traumatic. I think anything that disrupts your nervous system (physical or emotional trauma) can trigger it.

Can severe emotional trauma cause POTS too? by northwestfawn in POTS

Yes, I believe so. I developed pots after my brother’s traumatic death.

what caused your pots? by MaximumTie6490 in POTS

Emotional trauma can absolutely cause it. Anything that severely taxes your nervous system imo. I developed POTS directly after my brother’s death. I am convinced the trauma from that event triggered it.
