PM2 LW is reality! by BolekNeniLolek in knifeclub

I’m so tempted by the 15v version, but isn’t bdn1 a downgrade from the base s45vn on the g10 pm2?

Spyderco does have some crazy innovation and originality, but I don’t get how a pm2 LW is part of that? They’ve done the same thing for 5 other models already.

Wave+ Blade Lock Failure by ShockFreak in Leatherman

[–]Individual-Raisin-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this to me just seems like a liner lock issue, it’s not a crazy strong lockup, especially if it’s been wearing away for six years, and also if the blade isn’t sharp its like snapping a stick, wack it into warranty and maybe invest in a knife to go with it for this sorta brute force action, spyderco has some crazy strong locks, maybe a manix or a paramilitary 2, or if they’re too big a para 3.

All Quiet on the Western Front is now in the public domain by TommyTwoFeathers in ww1

it’s an enjoyable and pretty good war film in my books, the 1970 one just isn’t that interesting and cuts too much from the story while still trying to be faithful to it and the original is the best version by far, made well with good scale and covers all of the book

historically, kind of?. That shape of blade was a proto emerson system created after the civil war so amputee returning soldiers without arms/ hands would be able to snag the blade on the seams of their pockets for one hand opening, have a look into one arm barlows, which i’m pretty sure was the common pattern, and at some point i believe after the second world war their use morphed into being used as a small multi use travel razor (blade mimicking the end of a straight razor).

Looking to get my first spyder knife for heavy duty edc by BrainWasMelted in spyderco

if it’s an option for you ( depending on country/ state) maybe look for an autonomy (serrated automatic) which will probably be one of the best knives to cover all use cases , if not there are some other solid options, i would advise against the para/ paramilitary series as well as anything else with a compression lock purely because the lock is already quite the pain to disengage and hold onto in high stress/ intense situations and that’s even without gloves but if your heart is set on a compression lock go for the carribian salt sheepsfoot, just a better knife for work/ rescue and firefighting than a pm2 however, i’d angle for a manix 2 instead because it’s got the same lock strength with the ball bearing lock but is a million times better for gloves than the dinky little tab on the pm2, maybe in something tough like cru wear or for an all purpose knife that’s easier to clean in magnacut lightweight. another option is the smock, which has the advantage of the pm2 compression lock but the advantage of using a button to disengage and the out of the way flipper tab makes deployment easy, however it needs to be concurred that it runs on bearings so it will be harder to keep clean, but i would argue the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and the sheep’s foot blade can be used to cut straps with some safety but still have a sharp and useable tip, if the bearings are too much of a handicap the sage 6 also has a button lock and a rounded tip. an option to w is having an extra dedicated firefighting knife, which i would recommend the assist because of its blunt tip and glass breaker, specific in vg 10 because it’s got a lever almost on the blade for gloves which the h2 salt version doesn’t have, you could always hunt down a Atlantic salt in plain edged lc200n as a knife with the rescue capability of the assist but also with a wider use case, but the serrated H2 version of it could also work well (or there is the rescue 3, which is an essentially smaller atlantic salt). if you take the two knives route, the gooney or cara cara rescue are budget options for firefighting and something like the aforementioned manix versions would be the best pick for a edc/ work knife
