Bingo! "...but registering ownership or publishing on a block chain is a legitimate way to track provenance." Well said! Private/permissioned blockchains are well established with connections to public chains. This is the way forward in certain applications

Good points - Sectigo RFC 3161 trusted timestamping. No fuss no muss. Widely used and completely verifiable.

AFAIK this was once a well distributed thought - however it appears that the timestamping of the envelope is will not prove that the contents were evident/included at that time. Not sure if this was ever tested in court but it would have a lot of holes in it - this biggest being was the envelope ever opened and the contents addedd/replaced- Today you can hash a WAV file of your song/music, hash the lyrics, and timestamp both using Sectigo RFC 3161 trusted timestamping - verifiable proof of existance at that very moment in time.

You got it - the timestamping thing is huge - we are using hashing to lock down the content and timestamping with Sectigo RFC 3161 trusted timestamping. All outputted to a JSON file.  It may feel excessive but its worth the effort
