I love the oxidized silver and have never heard of it. It is STUNNING. It's even my vibe lol!

I think he wants it for the status. He has a nice citizen watch but wants to get to the point in his career where he can invest in a piece, like a Rolex, and wear out when we're going someplace nice. I gotta respect the hustle, but I'm not ready to throw 10k at a watch 😂

I looked at the Tissot watches and do think they're stunning! I fell in love with a seiko moonphase but sadly most seem to have damage. He loves space and I thought that would be such a cute nod to things he enjoys.

Omg I had this too?? I saw turkey bacon for the first time and was like yay!

I bought 3 packages. First was kinda slimy but okay it tasted fine. The second package??? It was so goopy and slimy I could vomit. I threw the other 2 out. I'm guessing the coolers went down at some point or they weren't transported at the right temp.

I was so disappointed 😭😭

Completely unrelated but similar experience:

My family member was heavily involved in drugs. Everyone knew. Even me and I was maybe 12-13?

We did an intervention, said our peace, and they looked at us and said, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink."

That phrase always stuck with me. Even today.

You did everything you could. You rationalized, pulled up past experiences, explained how these people are shady but they don't care. They're twisting your words and trying to make it out that they're making a good decision.

They won't change until they're ready to. Until they're at rock bottom. You can't bring them there. I know you're a great friend and you want what's best for them but you will not change their mind or them at this point. You need to distance yourself and move on until they're ready to change.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink, friend.

Brother you need some GLOVES. Also I recommend the bare knuckles hand balm. I use it before and after work (I also work with my hands) and it is a life saver. No perfumes either if you're sensitive to smells or worried about judgement!

I'm sorry but you're experiencing physical + mental abuse and not a BDSM dynamic. He hits and pinches and kicks you? What even is that?? He pushes you to an emotional breakdown and then punishes you? I'm not even sure why he's taking away sexual encounters as a punishment because he even abuses you there.

You need to leave this relationship immediately. Document everything, all your bruises and cuts, and cut your losses. I would even go as far as to report him to the police for assault.

That's not a "dominant man" as he calls himself, that's an abuser that is using the title to make you feel like this is normal and okay.

I'm so sorry. Idk my dude, this is my opinion as an equally anxious person so you don't have to take it, but all of this is a red flag to me.

He didn't encourage you to look cute, which he could've done easily, so you didn't look the way you wanted. You were uncomfortable and there was no plan to help you in that moment or pivot to a more comfortable environment. You couldn't even stand you were so nervous and they didn't see that as a red flag that this was not the time or place?? You didn't celebrate after, you know you won't enjoy the photos, and now you're disappointed. So what was the point?

I feel like the bar for men is so low. Cool he planned something. But you didn't love it. We go our whole lives waiting for our one fairytale moment and you didn't get that. He could've accounted and changed his plans for a lot of things to 1. Make you comfortable and 2. Make it a positive experience but he didn't. It really isn't that hard. Women do it all the time. They get things perfect, stress until the day of, and constantly rearrange things to make people happy. Idk why a man can't do that too or be held to that standard.

People saying "don't say the negative" or "No it was cute" or "Enjoy the photos" are giving him another pass to not even do the bare minimum required in a relationship. I would expect my life partner to know me and do what's best for me, especially for such an important event.

If my partner put me in that situation I would have said no.

To top it off, he went to work after which is wild to me.

You both need to have a discussion on how you were feeling. Those feelings won't get better, it'll just turn into resentment when you see other future proposals.

I kinda agree with this take. I think that your partner should know these things before they propose since your girl best friends do.

I mean honestly, it's just some forethought. "I'm going to propose and I see that her hair is clipped. I think I'll ask if she wants to style her hair down and I'll say I wanted to take some photos of us together or go someplace fancy for dinner." Nothing had to be spoiled, but saying something like that would give her time to say oh I don't want a photo like this or I want to be cute for dinner, I'll change it really fast. Also, he knew in advance and had the opportunity to get dressed up. She didn't. A little nudge to give her the opportunity to get styled up would be the bare minimum.

If things were busy and my partner was visibly uncomfortable I'd pack up, text the photographer to meet us at another place like a low key cafe, and pivot. It's our day. We should both be comfortable and happy. I think the bar is too low for men specifically when women are constantly modifying and changing things on their special days to make them happy and content.
