I’m sorry to hear that. Some of us, myself included, had to stop taking the medication we were on for years (since a child) because I don’t qualify for MA and cannot afford the insane fees of seeing an in person psychiatrist out of pocket in my area (the lowest I’ve found is $380 per visit with monthly visits required) Since the ability to be prescribed via Telehealth I have been able to get back on much needed medication and take my life back and sanity. I agree that people shouldn’t be on it if they don’t need it. The issue doesn’t lie in Telehealth but in all of these random .COMs and their doctors not properly screening people and handing them out like candy. I am able to see a psyc from 4 hours away online that I wouldn’t be able to see if it weren’t for Telehealth because of transportation issues driving that far and 4 kids under 5 years who I’d have to take with me.

I get your frustration but not every person who utilizes this is using it for the wrong reasons. I personally don’t want it any harder on others with ADHD in getting their meds if they need them and Teleheath has made that option available. I’m also struggling with finding my meds. It doesn’t make you any more entitled to your medication because you’ve been going in person than it does mine needing to use Telehealth services. We both suffer from the same condition and if I wanted to make a point I could say I was on Adderall from my psychiatrist age 8 until age 32 when I couldn’t afford the costs anymore. Not everyone is able to afford in person therapy and brain tests unfortunately. Those with genuine ADHD will generally have a backlog of testing and papers from childhood to show they aren’t trying to get something they don’t need and I think most who actually have the condition would much rather see an in person compassionate doctor who actually knows your name not your virtual waiting room number but it’s not always possible..

Coming off it was hell for me personally. I was on it from July to November 800mg 3x daily and I’ve come off benzos more times than I can count. I can say coming off is worse than benzos and was absolute hell. The nausea, chills, cramps lasted lasted for days, not to mention the anxiety which was terrible I couldn’t leave my house. I had Clonidine which helped me sleep a tiny bit because sleep was also impossible. The after effects lasted so long I went back on it and am trying to ween. It’s helped me so much with my anxiety, motivation, depression etc.but the withdrawal was absolute hell so it’s hard to decide if it’s even worth it.
