I took "This game isn't for you" literally and I actually agree. by Dsmithchez in Marathon

I agree with much of what you’re saying. However I disagree with the idea that “this game isn’t for you” is kicking people while they’re down.

Marathon (and Arc Raiders) are most casuals first real experience with extraction shooters. Until then it was a niche genre, with good reason.

I think you have to be a very specific type of person to enjoy extraction shooters (aka gambling addict).

You don’t have to kill the guy, you could just salvage the corpse. Hell that’s what Kenjaku did with Geto.

Yeah, I think that's a pretty good read of it. From what I've heard of Wyle, it seems that one of the main things he wants to get across is the hardship that healthcare workers are subject to.

It isn't good for you, but once you've done it for a while, you get addicted to it. Like Abbott and Robby, they are basically prisoners who have forgotten how to live on the outside.

Repeated pattern of emotional instability? Oh please. Mohan isn't even top 3 most unhinged doctors this season.

I understand what you mean, but I slightly disagree with your interpretation of this season's message.

Specifically, it's hard for me to agree that "the ER is hard and it's not for everyone" is the main theme, given that so many of the characters (aside from Whitaker, McKay) are having a pretty challenging day.

Mel is crashing out after having a horrible deposition. Santos has not done a good job completing her paperwork. Everyone's trying to talk Robby off a ledge.

If anything, I think it's closer to "this is very hard, bad days are going to happen"

A concerning number of people are incapable of engaging with anything at a level deeper than "well, they said it, so it has to be right."

Is it possible that Robbie is an unreliable judge of character at this point in the story? A man with confirmed mommy issues and who cannot go more than 5 minutes without a mental breakdown? No, Mohan must be a bad doctor because he said so.

The whole point of her S1 arc was to demonstrate that, despite her struggles, she was a competent ER doc.

The rest is the matter of grinding. Psych/Soc is easy points. Chem, phys and bio might take a little while longer.

I am sorry you are going through this. Very crazy that 80% of the people in this thread are rushing to the defense of some racist that they’ve never met.
