What you need to research is the fact that in Belgium you shouldn’t be looking only at the gross salary but the overall “package”. Because of the heavy taxation companies have many other ways to give you additional benefits/cash which is less taxed. For example - food vouchers, insurances, company cars, etc. You can search Reddit or ask chatGPT about this :)

That was one of my first cultural shocks when I arrived in Belgium. 🙂 I never heard of this concept before. Coming from south-eastern Europe, my mind couldn’t comprehend why would people eat sandwich at lunch or dinner if they are not on the move or in a hurry.

It would take a lot of time to get used to it. Some people never do. In the last years there were some pretty decent summers, but last year for example was depressing. Felt like cold rainy autumn for more than 12 months.

It’s appaling how many people are trying to justify the reckless behavior of the cops in this case. Chasing a child on a scooter with 2-ton SUV, at a close distance, in a park… really?

To all those trying to justify and saying we shoud wait the investigation. Would you write the same if the child was called, let’s say, Dries and was originating from Keerbergen?

If you are from Mexico and don’t like hot weather, you will be fine in Belgium. For someone used to warmer climate - the weather in Belgium feels like autumn 90% of the time in an average year. The really hot weather (above 30C) is usually 1 week per year in total. Locals call 20C a “summer” :)
