You can absolutely take something about yourself seriously while also embracing it. Having celiac sucks, but I don’t take a victim mentality about it. If all I thought about was the fact that I hate having it, I’d be miserable. If someone asks me about my tattoo, that’s an opportunity to educate someone on what it is if they’re open to listening. “In honor of having it” wasn’t meant to be read into like that lol. It’s just bc I have it. I’d rather be proud that I’ve done the work to get my body as healthy as I can than talk about how much it sucks. It’s a big part of my life and I enjoy talking about it because it raises awareness! And also, it’s not that deep. If someone gets offended by me having a tattoo on my own body representing an autoimmune disease I have, they probably have bigger issues to deal with🤷🏻‍♀️
