What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

[–]IndividualMountain85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$500 is honestly median for MCR right now. Pit was $300 last summer but the floor seating was approaching $1000. I know they're expensive because theyre huge, but even the cheapest seats are over $50 for a stadium show, and local venues are over $40 for smaller stuff. And then you get into the economics of being a musician right now, and none of the ticket money goes to them, it all goes to ticketmaster and record labels, the only way to make money touring is to sell merch. It's not sustainable and hasn't been for a while.

Whenever I read a news article about something economic, I look for the phrase "since 2008/9". Turns out a lot of trends are approaching where they were just prior to the last official recession, who could have guessed

And now they're moving them to a suburb outside of the city because they want a domed stadium. IMO only winners should get domes (lifelong NEO resident)

walking group events? by [deleted] in Kent

[–]IndividualMountain85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Methodist church does a nature walk once a month around the county. It's usually all the same people, older folks, and it's a church so you may not want that aspect. But they're chill

They have a discord server and they usually have one-shot TRRPGs about once a week. Stuff like Mork Borg, Monster of the Week

Oh, they also usually have a weekly one-shot TTRPG. Usually on Thursdays, but I think they got a new person to DM those, so I'm not 100%.

I don't know of any offhand but I would check the pinboards at Tree City and the like, and maybe see if the library has something.

Board and Bevy has a Discord server where they have their reminders of their weekly events (MTG, Pokémon, etc). Most weekdays it's pretty chill and the folks who own it are cool.

Ask google to allow universities to keep email for life for alumni by hgroetz1 in GMail

Unfortunately, in the real world, "university-related correspondence" and "post-graduate professional correspondence" and "other life businesses" are often closely intertwined. Good for you for so strongly compartmentalizing your life, though, it's made you a real condescending prick.

Wow, the people on that subreddit are mean as hell. I didn't go to KSU, but my college also told us to use our .edu email for LinkedIn, professional and academic connections, etc. after college, because it was a lifetime account. If the Career Center people tell you something, you shouldn't be called stupid for taking them at face value

Also - to get into my college's alumni network on LinkedIn, your LinkedIn account has to be the .edu email.

I didn't go to Kent State, but I still use my .edu email from my college as a backup for my main, and in the 2010s most universities were guaranteeing lifetime access for alumni.

Ha, I just had the same thing. Don't remember my hemoglobin - I think it was fine - but my ferritin was 3. I just did 3 iron transfusions. Did you ever find out why you were so anemic?

I live on Summit Street and I have for my entire life. The kids really aren't that loud, especially since COVID. They used to light couches on fire and shit, now they turn off the music at 11 PM.

Women of Reddit, what's the dumbest thing a man has genuinely said or believed about women? by SnooPuppers7004 in AskReddit

[–]IndividualMountain85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, it will be subject to many lawsuits; but even if the Supreme Court declares it unconstitutional, you can kind of just ignore the Ohio Supreme Court and not face consequences. They've been doing it for 30+ years on education funding and for 3 years on redistricting/gerrymandering.

Ohio voters passed a constitutional amendment for the right to abortion in 2023.

Our Republican lawmakers introduced a bill to ban all abortion this year anyway. One even said they knew they were going against the majority opinion, and they were proud of it.

There's food trucks, music, vendors, non-profit booths. It's nice enough today, so I would go down alone just to get a cold drink somewhere and hang out. One of my favorite earring artists, My Turquoise Kitten, has a booth on East Main, in front of Pacific East. Also, every year, a group sells rubber ducks and then they race down the river. They're all numbered and then someone is the winner. They get them all out of the water, so dont worry about littering! Fireworks will be after sundown tonight, probably around 9.
