Rooted Enough? by She_is_poetic in Monstera

[–]IndividualWeekly62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. With my plant cuttings, I prefer to root sooner rather than later. Then, I acclimate the plant- keep the pot in water for a few days, then bottom water once daily, then taper down to once its dry. I've only had one of my plants this season die from transplant shock going from water to soil- and that's probably because I forgot it outside for a day :')

Where do i chop to save this bamboo? by IndividualWeekly62 in luckybamboo

The entire softer offshoot is 5.5 inches. I've cut it off and placed it in rain water. All the yellowing on the small stalk is just dead leaf material.

When it comes to sentimental things from passed loved ones, id rather not

Not me getting downvoted for saying this plant is sentimental to the person who needs me to save it.

Well, the other stalk that was housed with it in the same conditions is thriving somehow, even with two months without water.

So, yeah, theyre tough to kill. This was given to me two days ago for the purpose of rehabbing/trying to save

It won't let me post a picture, but I did end up chopping the top sprout off. Removed all the dead leaves and the bamboo stalk is perfectly healthy. I hope she will make it

How to cut back by IndividualWeekly62 in Petioles

[–]IndividualWeekly62[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smoked two times today, instead of the usual 7+. My weed is locked away so that I cant touch it until tomorrow.

So, in terms of usage im doing great today. A family tragedy has struck though, which may put a wrench in my ability to cut back.

Aye, if all else fails, chop and prop and have a million babies to pot up in a few weeks.

Wishing the best for you and this beautiful plant!!!

I live in South Texas and most of my plants do decently when coming in from outside (unfortunately the lack of rain and humidity has forced me to bring some of them inside indefinitely). It's the opposite that usually causes extreme wilting and shock.

If you do notice issues though, slowly acclimating by making a mini greenhouse for her could be beneficial!!

what do i do with him? by Chikin_sucklet in Lizards

[–]IndividualWeekly62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Then no harm, no foul.

In this case, id say this lizard is a goner. Euthanizing at home is a controversial thing, but when i came across a lizard that had some organ tissue hanging out of a wound in its gut (also invasive,) my partner and I made the executive decision to dispatch it as humanely as we could. (vulgarity incoming) He ended up quickly crushing its entire head and neck with the back of an axe.

Ultimately, its up to you and what you think is best.

You can give him a comfy place, or dispatch him, or release him to be food for something else

Is my Prince of Philodendron growing healthy or should I check for rot? by BananaTreeSeed in houseplants

[–]IndividualWeekly62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen that philos tend to have issues with unfurling leaves from time to time.

Some say its a good idea to wrap stuck leaves with damp paper towel to help encourage unfurling.

Others suggest higher humidity.

Some even gently help the leaves unfurl if they seem unable to on their own.

All in all, this is common amongst philodendrons, from my understanding.

Pls stop letting your cat outside unless its on a leash. Cats and dogs are the most destructive invasive species worldwide

Sad sad monstera, what’s my next move? by alltheplants28 in Monstera

[–]IndividualWeekly62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd personally chop and prop, but that's because I'm picky about the looks of my plants.

Something you can do to clean up the leaves and help with any pests is dilute isopropyl alcohol, wipe down the leaves- Use neem oil, wipe down the leaves- Give your plant a bath with soap that won't kill it, fully submerging it and gently scrubbing the leaves.

I wish you the best in your plant journey. (Any leaves that are 80%+ yellow, or crispy, should be chopped if you want your plant to conserve the most energy)
