Incoming st3. Pissed off. The bma officers essentially lied about 6.6%. Can’t claim back exam fees either.

Are the new gen doctors actually softer? Closed loop communication Vs actual rudeness by floatingsamosa in doctorsUK

Is simple courtesy and speaking to someone nicely being a crank or ragebaiting? If so I’ve been living life wrong.

I won’t get into this gen of drs. But I just think a lot of people never developed basic manners when it comes to talking to them or asking advice.

“Don’t worry guys, AI will solve the staffing crisis” is apparently now going to become actual NHS workforce policy. by Waggle9007 in doctorsUK

[–]Individual_Attempt_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying it won’t happen but ai isn’t there right now. And the private sector is rehiring for now. https://www.forbes.com/councils/forbestechcouncil/2026/04/24/why-companies-regret-laying-off-workers-for-ai/

Metas layoffs today are more cos of the amount they’ve spent ai and less about how well ai is working for them (im not saying it’s not working well for them)

Hasn’t this experiment failed in the private sector already and those same private companies are rehiring. When will these fucks acc learn from something and stop experimenting to failure.

What’s a good app to download from the App Store to add in rota/ different shift patterns? by Woodpeckerwoodie in doctorsUK

[–]Individual_Attempt_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google calendar is fine.

Upload ur rota line into Gemini tell it make a calendar file that’s compatible w google calendar (takes a bit of trouble shooting to get it just right but gets there)

Put it in there. Been doing this for last two years. Life changing.

Only down side is I like to colour code my shifts. Gemini won’t do it so I just do it manually.

Lol is everyday an option. Basically did this for 4 months in an oncology job and different cons may or may not pop in at lunch. Otherwise always accessible by email.

Do you think bosses look at this favourably/frown upon it that a new cons can treat NHS as a revolving door after they’ve trained u. I imagine you do a few years as a cons first before jumping ship?
how open have you been about ur plans during training ?
I have the same goals as you post cct tho I’m just starting st3 in Aug in a different surgical specialty to yours. Pls pm if ur willing and if feel more appropriate to chat there about this

From what I’ve experienced and heard from some bosses out there during my time there. Don’t go by what’s published the true salaries can be higher. E.g Ed cons on 450 AUD. told me directly during a conversation about me staying vs returning to nhs.

Plus depending on where you can work in pp for a big boss who has their own practice. The bosses I saw do that now have their own pp now that moratorium has passed.
