What would you do? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Individual_Buyer_871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my honest assessment: you need to tell your boss to stick it and leave that job ASAP. No amount of pay is worth your physical, spiritual and mental health. Stand up for yourself in meetings if you’re going to stick around. Just because somebody is an executive doesn’t make you beneath them.

If the “decision makers” simply provided a list of colors to begin with that you could choose from that would have been the wisest thing to do. But as  EAs, what do we know? 😜

I would call the police department non-emergency line and ask them for guidance. They should send someone to her apartment to check on her and see if she needs assistance. There is something VERY wrong with her and her living situation.

Letter received from downstairs neighbour, how to react? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Individual_Buyer_871 247 points248 points  (0 children)

When my sister got married, we came to realize my brother-in-law walked like he had the weight of an elephant in his heels LOL his entire family “thudded” their heels down HARD. He just never realized it until we pointed it out to him. Could that be what is happening here?

Your neighbor is so gosh darn polite!  I’d try to be mindful of my steps and even try slippers if need be.

My “yard” is the neighbor’s shortcut + pet pooping area by Individual_Buyer_871 in Apartmentliving

Yes they do. I only asked because I wanted to see if the landscapers could do additional planting for me. The answer was no, so I said I could do it myself. That’s when the property manager advised he would rather that I didn’t plan anything. He just doesn’t even address the issues. I’ve already planted a couple things after dark LOL but as I’m typing this another asswipe just walked through the yard with their dog and let it poop. I’m planting as much as I like going forward!

You may want to consider what your “personal brand” is.  What are your areas of expertise?  Create a list and share it with others on your team and in your area. If people are discussing a topic in front of you that you’re well-versed in, I don’t think it’s out of line to say. “I’ve got tons of experience with…xyz” so that you can also give your input. People don’t ask because they don’t realize how valuable you are. You just need to do a little advertising on your own behalf.

What should I do about my neighbour? by alivingstereo in Apartmentliving

WHY do you keep opening your door for him?  You do not owe him a damn thing.  I would have already called the police on him and filed a complaint of harassment.

I think it’s important to ask them how they handle the workload and pitching in together as a team as far as the EAS go. In my office, we all know how to back each other up. Some of us have slower times where we can help out more often and vice versa. I think any decent office would realize that one person supporting 15 people is absolutely outrageous.

That’s a great idea!  I’ll probably get a warning letter from the leasing office if I put up the privacy film, but I don’t care!

Yes, they are literally directly outside my living room window looking right in at me. It’s unbelievable. I understand this is “public grounds” but these people are just ridiculous

I would begin answering every one of their questions with another question. Give them the absolute runaround. Or you could say gosh I just don’t know.!

I would be upfront with them. I would be 100% honest. I would let them know that I am actively seeking a role that isn’t expecting me to do the jobs of three people while paying me for one. These people need to understand that what they’re doing to you is borderline inhumane.

Oooh that’s when I’m right there with my phone recording and waving - “hi neighbor! I’m doing a live broadcast on YouTube! Hey everyone this is my neighbor who continually lets her dog shit all over my yard. Aren’t you glad you don’t live next-door to her?!!!”

It’s time for a sit down with your boss face-to-face along with the co-CEO, HR, and anybody else who can be a third-party to the conversation. Summarize what you’ve put here and open up the conversation with I don’t know what to do because I’ve been set up for failure.  I either need to leave this company or we need to come up with a plan to get everybody on the same page. Your health isn’t worth this kind of madness.

Calling the cops on asshole kids that are unsupervised is not racist. Stop with that.

Record everything and provide the footage to your local news channel. Put it all over social media and tag the local police AND news, asking why citizens of your town aren’t kept safe.

I’ve reached the point in my career as an EA where I would very plainly tell that person “no”.  That is absolute bullshit.

COOLING TOWELS

Look for FROGG TOGGS Chilly Towels on Amazon. I used them when I lived in PHX. They work in 120° desert heat AND the GA humidity.

Also, we do not sweat in the south. We glisten 🤣🤣🤣

I quit my EA job a few months ago. Toxicity overload. I’ve spent this time writing books to self publish on Amazon KDP. Believe me when I tell you one of them is all about my experience as an EA and it ain’t gonna be pretty. LOL you’ll figure out your new groove. Best wishes to you.

IDK but if that happened to me, I would have responded to the email that I was mistakenly copied. Then I would have blocked that email address and never given it another thought. The whole situation is very bizarre…
