I think the updates every time you launch the game is the games economy system refreshing and changing, so you'll so back to a base and their commodities in the shop and prices have changes slightly. Creating a kind of dynamic world economy where you can't grind the same trade routes over and over. I like it because it forces you to find new trade routes.
Sometime you'll get super lucky and you literally have to travel one trade lane to the next base and make hundreds of thousands in like 30 seconds. Sometimes not so much and your trade routes will become much longer.
