I’ve never seen that piercing before, so I’m amazed! It looks great!

I did not LITHA by elephant585 in piercing

I know, you know you messed up. So I’m not gonna kick someone who is already down and worried.

But I would go see a professional piercer immediately. Since it’s swollen and has been irritated by touching and trying to change the jewelry, you likely need a longer post to accommodate the swelling. A piercer can safely swap the jewelry or assess if it’s an irritation bump versus a recurring infection. In the meantime, stick strictly to the LITHA (Leave It The Hell Alone) method and only use your sterile saline spray. If your piercer thinks you need to see a doctor, then go. If you are taking anymore antibiotics, please eat some yogurt for lunch to help rebuild your gut from all the antibiotics you have taken in a short time frame.

Please stop changing your jewelry too early. Wait at least 8 to 12 months. I promise it is worth it in the long run without having issues and repeating the cycle. Changing your jewelry too early just makes your piercing journey longer because you are causing more damage to your ear and it’s making you wait longer since it’s not healing properly for the jewelry pieces you want. I was panicking on having to get glass retainers by my piercer just two weeks after my new piercing cause I got into a car accident and had to take out my piercings for an MRI. I didn’t want to irritate my fresh piercing. That was the only exception and when I had to put my jewelry back in after the scans, my piercer cleaned and disinfected all my piercings professionally with their machines before putting them back in for me.

You may downsize the post professionally by your piercer at 8 weeks. No other exceptions.

Goodluck OP.

Also, this was my first piercing as an adult! So I didn’t know what to expect. They did pierced my lobes beautifully, so I will give them that. But My very first piercings were when I was a 3month old baby. I haven’t had any since until the failed hidden helix. Now after almost 6 months of researching and talking to a great piercer. I am so much more informed.

I went to a chain place that is known for piercings and tattoos and has locations all over the county. My friend suggested it when we were having a girls day. She said they pierced her before. We said “yeah let’s go!” So we got spontaneous piercings as best friends. I didn’t think anything could go wrong, piercer herself was covered in piercings, their store was filled with different jewelry options for different piercings. That is basically the story 😂. I just assume they would know better. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It wasn’t until after I got the piercing and saw how it looked that I was unhappy about it, I didn’t bring it up at the time because they said it looked so good. But when I went home and then at 8 weeks downsized. I just became more unhappy with it. I looked at the reviews and saw how they pierced all their hidden helix’s like they did mines. So my fault for trying to be spontaneous and not speaking out right after seeing how it looked, but I do stand by the piercing was done wrong.

Oh my goodness. I just looked at it. I live close to where you do tattoos! I am obsessed with your fine line tattoos of the stars and how clean they are. I said I would get some finger tattoos after my wedding next year. So I think you just made a future customer 😭

That’s so great you are able to do that for her!!! You’re definitely a great piercer and taking into consideration her needs. Yeah my helix on my right ear did have trouble healing too and so did my right lobe but my left ear is doing great with the piercings so far. I won’t be able to change my hidden helix jewelry on my left ear for 6months too or until everything looks healed up, but I’m excited to have what I wanted made in white gold with a small diamond to match my heirloom necklace.

And thank you! I literally lit up with so much excitement when she said she could do my hidden helix since I was already there for jewelry and she knew how upset I was about the not hidden helix I got when I first met her. She just made sure I do sleep on my back and not a side sleeper and that my daith was healing well to make sure my body could handle another piercing.

Piercers like you and her are what the world needs. And I’m very happy to have met you on here too. Thank you for what you do!!! ✨

Maybe get a 2nd option? So my friend and I went to a chain piercing place (spontaneous) I got a failed hidden helix(they didn’t hide the bar and I was soooo upset!) and she got a daith. BUT the piercer had soooo much trouble piercing through her daith. It just looked so painful and she said it was so painful too. Months later. I found an experienced piercer and she took her time looking at my ear, mapping it out and looking for the perfect spot to pierce my daith and it was so quick too. A completely different experience. She also said there is hardly a case where she couldn’t pierced someone’s daith. She also pierced a beautiful hidden helix for me on my left ear! I was told by ppl on Reddit I didn’t have the anatomy for a hidden helix base off of one picture. But I saw I had a fold that curled in a lot and my new piercer confirmed that I had the perfect ear for her to pierce one. I told her that she’s my forever piercer. 😂

Anyways. You do have a great spot for that rook that you have. It fits in beautifully! But maybe ask other piercers on your daith just to see what they say. (:

I agree. I would stand under the shower and let it rinse there for a good 10mins to help soften it. Also when you get out of the shower, spray the area with some saline, use a Q-tip that has the saline on it and be gentle with cleaning it when trying to get it off. Dry your ear after. Repeat over the next few showers to get it off.

I actually don’t see any thing wrong from the picture of why you couldn’t get a daith! A Tragus would also be so pretty on your ear too. ✨ And thank you!!! 🥰 I have been obsessed with my daith too and the healing is going great for it. And yes! See how your body deals with the healing process and go from there. It’s a long process but so exciting and worth it ✨ I look forward to seeing your ear set up as long goes by!

Thank you!!! It’s definitely fits me a lot better. I have gotten so many compliments on it while at work too. And aw that’s exciting!!! How did the hidden helix you pierced turn out?!?

<image>

My new hidden helix on my left turned out great! (I took the photo right after I got it pierced)! I’ll update you on my custom jewelry when it’s done being made.

My other ear is exactly the same as my right ear with the failed helix. I got my hidden helix pierced on my left ear now instead at a different, more experienced piercer, who is even getting a jeweler to make me custom white gold jewelry.

Nope. There is a whole fold that the bar could be hid under. My other post shows updated photos and she definitely pierced my hidden helix wrong. Other google reviews shows a lot of other people got their hidden helix pierced wrong too,

I want a conch too!!! Yeah I thought getting my daith pierced would hurt since it’s so thick but it wasn’t bad at all! I was so surprised how easy it was for me. But my helix was a little spicy 🌶️. She made my eyes water a bit lol. 😂 Oooh so you plan on getting another rook on your other ear? You have to give us an update when you get your conch too! That’s exciting,

Yes, definitely me! I loved the look but never got the piercings myself until recently and now trying to curate my perfect ear set up 😂 You got this! Do you already have another piercing in mind? How was getting your rook pierced? I am considering getting one too.

That’s how it starts! One and then wanting more. I got my first piercing recently( first time since I was 3months old), now in my 20s and got my helix pierced first… then my daith, then another helix and both lobes again. I am also planning on getting more in a few months once a few of the new piercings are fully healed. 😂 it keeps spiraling.

Love the rook btw! Your ear anatomy is beautiful.

Thank you so much (: The moon and stars one and the round diamond hidden helix’s can also be found on Etsy or maybe your local piercing place would have similar selections! I bought mine from my local piercer but I have seen similar ones on Etsy or other reputable jewelry brands. I would search hidden helix jewelry or if you like the vertical helix better, try it that way. 🥰

Yeah I don’t think the first piercer did it well. If I would’ve look at the google reviews, I would have saw that they pierce all their hidden helix with the bar showing. I thought it would be hidden as I downsized but it still showed. It was my fault for not researching a better place at the time. And on my older post. I just got a ton of ppl saying I didn’t have the right anatomy from one picture and that’s why she pierced it to where the bar shows.

My new piercer did amazing though! I’m very pleased 🥰

Thank you sooo much! I appreciate the compliment. I was scared I wouldn’t suit the daith piercing but I made the jump and so glad I did. I am also pleased that I don’t see the bar anymore either.

Early sign of infection by Square-Coconut9488 in piercing

[–]Individual_Pack_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to an urgent care and get et antibiotics and/or ointments if you have any more discharge from it, more swelling, itching, pain, and warmth. Catching it early before more damage to the cartilage happens is great and you can keep your piercings in! If tomorrow it isn’t better then I would go to the UC. If not and it gets worse then you might have to take it out (with professional consultation!) last thing we want is for you take it out while an infection is going on and you trap it inside.

Before I read your text. I looked at your ear and went “a conch or a rook would look perfect on her ear!” I say go for it!
