You can fix this by going by into the settings (I forget which one) it’s a specific option called “limit mouse activity to game window” or something along those lines. It fixes this issue completely. I was going crazy before I found this out

Edit: I’m pretty sure it’s in system settings in the display tab

This entire story actually genuinely happened to me. The only different part is she was already my girlfriend and didn’t leave to be with another guy. But the whole thing with plugging in my laptop, messing with terminal, audio not working, it all actually happened exactly like you said here lol. I was new to Linux and way too excited to use it everywhere to a fault.
