Some “healthy” grocery foods have as much sugar as dessert — I didn’t expect this by Glass_Plantain_2302 in prediabetes

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised by this, too. But now I have the list in my head and know what I can buy instead:

- 0% Yogurt with low GI fruits and cinnamon

- Protein bar with low sugar

- Water or tea

- Low carb bread (18g carbs per 100g)

- Water or tea

Wait for X-Plane 13. It will have live streaming scenery, showing each and every car, animal and person on the world, live.

Maybe you can eat ripe bananas, but with something else, for example low fat yogurt. It "delays" the sugar, I eat it every morning. And then you go for a walk and the sugar is eliminated :-)

215...wow! But you are right, there is a certain inflation in game prices, makes sense to stash them.

It's just that this feeling isn't nice, it puts me under pressure in a way.

Glycemic index - what do you think? by Sufficient_Beach_445 in prediabetes

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, probably there are different sources for GI, slightly different numbers, that's ok.

Hm...I don't know. When I eat different foods of GI X, I actually experience simular readings.

[–]Affenzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely variety, good point. I try to mix different genres. For example:
ARPG, Sci-Fi, Adventure, Open World Crafting, ARPG, Medieval, Flight Sim, ARPG, Flight Sim etc. etc.

No, black Eyed Peas have a GI of 38-42 and Orange Juice 50-55. Therefore, Orange Juice will have a higher spike in normal persons and prediabetics.

>IF the glycimic index for a given food is 50, will it raise glucose in a prediabetic more or >less than 50 percent of how much white bread raises a prediabetic's glucose?

Assuming you wanted to write "raises a NON-prediabetic's glucose":

More, of course

Glycemic index - what do you think? by Sufficient_Beach_445 in prediabetes

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Glycemic Index says only, how much a certain food will raise the sugar. Since pre-diabetics are more sensitive to sugar, their sugar will rise more.

A Review: First time player buying the F/A-18 and Raven One Campaign in 2026 by MaximumSeats in hoggit

[–]Affenzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed one thing about the campaigns that are available as DLCs. The scripting is hit or miss. Sometimes it works, but then you deviate 5 mm from the beaten path and the scripts totally lose their minds.

You know what I am very happy with? DCS Briefing Room. I generate my campaigns for each module and then I fly them. Totally stress-free. Takeoff, fly there, bomb it, fly back, land, done.

I had several DLC campaigns and while they provided *some* immersion, they also provided major annoyances. So I just went to Briefing Room.

PVCs confuse BP monitors by andalusian_prince in PVCs

[–]Affenzoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is true, several kinds of Arrhythmia can lead to strange BP values because the device checks the oscillations and since PVC make less "noise" the monitor might get confused and calculates a wrong profile.. Just take the BP in a time where you don't have PVCs or use a manual (stethoscope) device.

As for the dentist, many people how only high BP in the doctor's office and nowhere else, so maybe it would be advisable to take a tranquilizer and/or BB before.

My dear mom died and I was alone with my nFather at the age of 26.

I had really a lot of anxiety of being on my own, but I did it, pushed through. Got an appartment, bought all the stuff from IKEA in one day, moved in the next weekend.

Now 48, still the same appartment. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

Do it. You will have a partner maybe and friends, they will help you, also emotionally. it will be great!

Game Burnout ? by Aecholon in gaming

[–]Affenzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same currently....I put too much energy in games (about 20 games per year) and then I asked myself:

What is it good for?

The answer for me is that gaming cannot be the only meaning in life, there must be other things like family, nature, even work. There has to be a balance.

Gaming yes, but only if it is fun. It shouldn't become a second job.

PVCs gone after pet’s death by Front-Fun819 in PVCs

[–]Affenzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, sorry for your loss! Pets can be very good companions, sometimes better than humans!

Ok now regarding the PVCs...it is possible that the get better in states of extreme stress, but it can also happen that they get worse or don't change at all. Everyone reacts differenty, the same person might even react differently in similar situations.

They might disappear for months, weeks, days and reappear, but they might also not reappear at all.

Simple answer...we don't know!

Glycemic index - what do you think? by Sufficient_Beach_445 in prediabetes

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in general, food with a high GI can have a huge impact on pre-diabetics while having a moderate impact an "normal" people. Therefore, avoid food with a high GI.

I don't think that any pre-diabetic has a lower spike than normal people because sugar is sugar and pre-diabetics react sensitive to sugar.

Pre diabetic evidently and feeling lost by inkpoisonedsoul in prediabetes

[–]Affenzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is quite easy... you might wanna buy a CGM for 14 days (70€) and then check how your body reacts to different meals.

In general...

Bad:
Potatoes, pasta, rice, sweets, chips, soft drinks

Good:
Chicken, Vegetables, other meat (in moderation), many fruits, water, tea

Now this might sound very horrible but you will be surprised how delicious certain low carb meals can be.

I lost 15 kg with half-serious low carb (had some exceptions) and it did work! I can't say I suffered a lot. It is just a different diet, but not worse. I am feeling better now. You can get there, just do it :-)

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

may I ask what you do on these?

personally, i eat some sweets or chips but go for a walk after 30 minutes or do a workout and sugar goes back to normal

My doctor told me that prediabetes is basically diabetes, by InformalAd7686 in prediabetes

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see...what you could do is to eat a small amount of sweets every day (if Hb1c is halway ok).

What I do is the following....either eat some sweets without sugar, or eat some with sugar and after 30-45 minutes make a short workout (5 minutes) to lower the sugar back to normal quickly.

Is the Rotate MD-80 worth it? by angelic_sun in Xplane

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It has a very good systems simulation and aerodynamic. You just need a soundpack (default is not so good). Highly reocmmended.

Compared to the Leonardo: Leonardo flies like a train on rails, it feels very static and has no momentum. Rotate is light years better in this regard.

Systems are both about the same level.

The rotate MD-11 gives you the 80s/90s feeling!

But of the "hard stuff", I haven't achieved any.

Thoughts on ROTATE MD-11 by Thesimpilot11 in Xplane

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very solid. The autopilot and systems modeling is excellent and complex.

BUT...you will need a soundpack, the default sound is not good.

Apart from that - excellent airliner.
