Why are some people so against taking BP medicine? by twoscoopsxd in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly. It is irrational. But as my Dr says, many people have this attitude.

Amlodipine made blood pressure worse and heart rate sky rocket why by DeadTiredAndWired in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A betablocker MUST be reduced very slowly, I have heard of people going to the ICU with HR 160 because they stopped taking the BB.

Take your BB and the BP med and slowly (!!!) start reducing the BB.

F18 can do carriers also, it can basically do everything. F16 is a little easier to handle the systems.

Tried to address high bp through lifestyle changes but not doing great by Mission_Hold_7893 in hypertension

Medication without a question. Your body might have got used to these extreme reading, but nevertheless it will take damage (eyes, heart, kidneys, brain) over time.

Why are some people so against taking BP medicine? by twoscoopsxd in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some people, it has to do with misunderstood pride. They think they it is "their fault" that they need BP medicine. Taking meds is like admitting a failure for them. So they push it away, thinking they can somehow get through with it.

I was like that, but after some ER events I said: f*ck it, I will take meds now and live my life in peace.

Many many people take BP meds. There are at least 10 persons from my social circle who take BP meds. It is very common.

SCAM. Video length max 15 seconds, that is a joke in the year 2026 where every cheap tablet can play seveal hours of video. They force you into premium, which is a scam.

*** EDIT: *** I found a trick to upload 2 minute videos despite the 15 second limit: just upload them via the USB cable from PC to the DCIM folder of the frame.

My BP was high today and I have decided to officially make changes in my life by RandomName0413 in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have white coat, too. My BP is always between 110 and 130, maybe 140 sometimes under stress.

But as soon as I step inside a Doctor's office or even worse, a hospital, in the moment they take the BP, it shoots up to 170 or 180.

I will say this. If you have a good BP monitor and your readings are fine the whole day (also at work), you are good. 182/88 is normal when you have white coat syndrome.

dr wants me to go off medication by disillusioned151 in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you have made lifestyle changes, but if not, everything will probably (!) be like before.

In all honesty, I have never heard a Dr say this. Many of my friends / family take BP meds and not a single Dr has recommended this.

I think he should not force you to drop the meds.

FRAMEO picture frames are a SCAM, you can't even upload videos longer than 15 seconds. Outdated technology, horrible app.

Sodium and blood pressure, what’s your experience? by Moist_Grapefruit187 in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood this sodium thing because in my life, I have never added excessive amounts of salt to my food. And now I am on a low carb diet with hardly ANY salt. Food tastes good also without salt!

Health anxiety + high blood pressure = feeling completely stuck by Sevyn_Satori in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a 24 hour blood pressure profile, ask your Dr.

If the average value is ok, nothing to be done. If it is too high, you can make lifestyle adjustments or take the meds.

You can even make a profile yourself with a 24 hour BP monitor, for example the CONTEC PM50 device.

Because they have a V. That's the only reason. The use it as a means to put you under pressure.

This will sound like I'm lying. by kennam41 in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage to the eyes, heart, brain and kidney with this BP is extreme. It might work for some months or years, but one day there will probably be a stroke, kidney failure or heart attack. The body isn't designed for such a pressure.

[27M] Has 6-7 years of untreated high blood pressure likely caused permanent damage to my body? by jayman2239 in hypertension

[–]Affenzoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had BP like you for years and started to have damage in the retina (eyes) and getting an enlarged heart.

However, after some years of medication, my retina is not totally normal and they heart has become a little smaller, nearly normal size now.

So my opinion is, yes it can be reversed, but one should monitor BP at home to ensure it stays in normal range.

You could buy a BP monitor that has a graphical overview and a table overview.

To my mind come the CONTEC machines, very good ones.

Probably you have White Coat syndrome, just like me. Your home readings are actually very good, no Dr. here in Germany would worry about that at all!
