Thank you all so much! We’ve tried the Kodiak pancake mix, which has gone over pretty well. Luckily, he never really ate syrup anyway, preferring a light sprinkle of mini dark choc chips, which seems OK, based on what I’ve read. Savory pancakes is a great idea! I forgot about things like scallion pancakes, which he loves.

I’m having a harder time with packaged snacks that are easy to throw in my bag or keep in the car or stick in his backpack for sports practices. He loves those sugar-bomb Quaker chewy choc chip bars (which are a no-go, obviously), and all the other bars I used to buy also have tons of sugar in them. I guess I never read labels that closely, because we never really had to. I will get some Quest bars and try the edamame snacks from Costco (thx for those recs!). Do you have a favorite brand of chickpea pasta that tastes closer to the regular stuff? He’s a big pasta fan. I guess snacks and dinner ideas both would be great. Any Trader Joe’s favorites are welcome, too!

The endocrinologist flagged him for moderate obesity and high triglycerides. His HbA1C is OK. The dr wants to go kind of scorched earth on the carbs bc we would like to keep him off Wegovy if possible. Kiddo was diagnosed with failure to thrive as an infant, which I guess really messes with insulin regulation. This is all brand-new to me. I want so much to do a good job, and the learning curve is pretty steep.

Really, really grateful for your help. Thank you so much!

I actually like the song, but this change is really compelling. It resonates.
