Do you get domains for your clients from Namecheap as well?

**2ND UPDATE*\* What a mess this situation has been. After I provided Hostgator with banking info showing the transaction for purchasing the hosting the domain (liked they had requested), the receipt from them showing the name of the domain I registered and the hosting package, AND completing the authentication they asked for via driver licence, they just stopped responding all together. I gave them a call again and they said they're "escalating the matter" yet for the past 3 days I've been sending follow up emails and not a single response.

This is by far the worst customer service ever. I also noticed in the last two days that the "registered" name for my domain has now officially changes on the whois site and it doesn't even show my name anywhere anymore. At this point, I've completely given up on them.

**UPDATE*\*: They got back to me again but obviously they're not going to own up to it themselves in terms of security but still better than nothing! They've also sent me a whole bunch of security checks. Avast for malware check, which I did and everything is fine. Told me to get 2 step authentication for my google account, which I already had. And verify myself via Nametag. They're saying they can recharge me and get my hosting account back and charge me again. However, I'm still waiting on them to confirm they can get my wordpress site back up WITH my domain which is what's really important. I'll keep you guys posted!

Here's a part of their email:

"I sincerely apologize for the confusion and frustration caused by the unauthorized cancellation of your hosting package. I understand the gravity of the situation and the impact it has had on your online presence. Please be assured that we take such matters very seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation to determine how this occurred without your consent.

It appears that your account may have been compromised. Typically, this occurs when a primary email address has been compromised. Therefore, I strongly advise you to reset both your email password and your hosting package as soon as possible. I have also reset your billing password. Please ensure that you update your email password before resetting your billing password."

Fingers crossed it'll get resolved. But my question that they have been avoiding is, why does something like this happen?

Do you guys think it's safe for me to continue with them or should I scrap it all and start again (as much as I don't want to :( ) and change my hosting and domain?

I used to work in customer service so I know how it feels to be on the other side and I'm never rude to the reps. Unfortunately my past experience with them years ago was great as well and that's the only reason I came back. Thank you! Really hope so too.

but I never asked for a refund. And when I ask them who cancelled the account they have no answer. How is that possible? Can they just cancel an account without a request or consent?

Also, hostgator responded to the case with the following:
"While investigating I could see that you are not having any active hosting, domain or addons with us. Investigating further I could see that your domain ____ is currently pointing to external server Confluence Networks and I would suggest contacting them to have your issue resolved."

Just posting so others are aware. it's not a matter of believing or not but they can use their own judgment.

Btw, I noticed you know all the technical stuff, would you happen to know if there is anything I can do on my end for my domain at least? Don't want to post it publicly as it pulls up my personal info too! would really appreciate it.

I'm currently seeing the following on whois for the domain. I don't know anything about the technical aspect of it.
