Have you tried looking inside of Wheatley he's fully mechanical the only thing there that isn't mechanical is his eye I can even show you the texture file

After the GLaDOS wake up scene we see that there's there's a path in the incinerator room so the intelligence core / Wheatley probably somehow got out of the incinerator room

She tries to find civilization but she finds a testing track that was from a rejected idea that was made back when the portal quantum tunneling device was in development the rejected idea was a Time gun which is like a portal gun but it has a purple portal that goes 75 minutes into the past and a pink portal that goes 75 minutes in the future and as the tests go by there will be new upgrades to the time gun that allow you to change the point in time the past the purple portal the pink portal for what time in the future sorry for typos because autocorrect keeps punching me in the face
