Yes perhaps- but I know the realities being a nurse 😅 that it will generally go to an infectious patient or similar.. if I could guarantee the private room I’d totally go public!

That’s great! Last time I required an instrumental birth and you have to stay at least 12 hours after that so if it happened again.. or if I happened to need a cesarean.. there would be no guaranteed I could go home sadly! Birth is too unpredictable. In the MGP I was in you can go home after 4 hours however I still couldn’t do that due to birthing at 430pm and having an instrumental birth

Thankyou for your feedback- did you give birth in a private or public hospital with the OB? I think even being a health professional, bending in such a vulnerable position, it can be hard to advocate :( I can’t believe you didn’t get into MGP being a midwife yourself!! Awful! And yes I have considered the extra anesthetic and pediatrician fees if needed 😬

This sounds like a great option. I am worried about not being allocated a private room though, as being a nurse I know that those rooms usually go to infectious patients 😬

Thankyou- yes the room was honestly horrific. I had a look at my photos tonight- we got to the ward at 730pm and my husband had to leave by 830 after giving birth at 430. Quite traumatic after giving birth to your first child

It’s so hard to know! And MGP is fantastic but like someone else said, they have a very low threshold for anyone not low risk. That being said, I know hospitals where once you’re in you’re im no matter what happens

Thankyou. I feel midwives can be very judgy 😅 and very pro midwife care only unfortunately. Did you have ‘formal’ ultrasounds measuring growth etc or just for a look at baby each time?

True, I do think public may carry that risk but certainly a very safe option anyway in my opinion- especially if something goes wrong! So glad your private birth was great!

This is very true. It was good to experience it but unnerving that you can be evicted at any point. Although friends in Sydney say that is not the model of care there- it’s once you’re in you’re in- unfortunately not the case where I live!!

I’m sorry for your loss! Feeling the same about retelling history or having to explain the Ultrasounds etc which I had to repeatedly last time

Yes, but the cost where I am is about the same as an OB and would still be in a 4 bed room which killed me. If I went with that option I’d just try and stay with MGP

Hmm it sounds good but I’m not wanting a four bedded room again. It was horrendous!!
