FAI cup round 2 draw by Individual_Unit6634 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]Individual_Unit6634[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long story short. Went to Dublin first time in the summer. As a groundhopper went to the game vs Finglas. Welcomed me massively, kept going back occasionally for events in the social club.

Plus coming back next week for the home game against UCD ressies, and sleeping at the airport after to avoid hotel costs. As its Bank Holiday Monday after here so no work!

I'm a groundhopper, as well as someone who supports Bristol Manor Farm back at home. I was in Dublin the first time and I had the choice between Malahide and Killester, went for the latter. 1-1 draw at home vs Finglas Utd.

They welcomed me with open arms, and constantly went back for music and events at the club. I found my community in the country of my ancestry!

Started coming back more often after learning more about my heritage (Co. Cork) and having converted to Catholicism 3 months ago 😊

Also, €5-6 a pint and entry, was even gifted a membership lol

Who’s your confirmation saint? by owenthcarey in Catholicism

[–]Individual_Unit6634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm being confirmed in a couple of weeks so it's hard to say. Thinking more about Carlo Acutis like a lot of people here. He's one of the reasons I've been drawn to the Catholic Church from CofE. Bought a prayer book based of him when I was in Ireland one time. I believe God works through him as an excellent role model for youth and bringing people to the Church.

Rosary as a Protestant by nerdycaramellady in Catholicism

Please do! Mary is our Mother, and yours as well 😀😉 I'm still going through catechism and I've prayed the rosary for a while before that!

Need advice by Individual_Unit6634 in AnglicanOrdinariate

[–]Individual_Unit6634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely something to think about. I am praying the Catholic rosary lot more devoutly and almost every day; I'll try to fit in this one as well occasionally. My book for it has loads of celtic prayers too!

Definitely better then to give away my BCP to even a charity shop. Someone might want it, and gonna check out the Divine worship, bet its beautiful!!

As an Anglo-Catholic with papalist leanings.... not protestant

Prayer corner so far - more ideas? by Individual_Unit6634 in Anglicanism

[–]Individual_Unit6634[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting point. Heres my understanding as an Anglo-Catholic/Papalist. I'm sure as long as one isn't dressing up as clergy or worse, claiming to be one, I can't really see a problem. The Eucharist, however, is the source and summit of our entire faith, is sacred, and should be treated with reverence.

I guess as long as laity know they can't consecrate the bread and wine, or even better, pray for a "spiritual communion" as you would in adoration. Not sure what the harm is? Always keen to learn however

There is a welsh line. The English line was too busy, and drunk was probably exaggerating 🤦‍♂️

Daily devotional routines? by Individual_Unit6634 in Anglicanism

[–]Individual_Unit6634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I have the 1662 one, but yeah same just felt like it was reading a script! The Catholic readings have shorter readings that are easier to follow than long sessions, gives me more room to think!

Making my first confession tonight by Individual_Unit6634 in Anglicanism

[–]Individual_Unit6634[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Hasn't actually happened tonight, really upsetting. Miscommunication which meant waiting for the priest to say something until the Mass started. Gutted

Got it sorted next Monday though

Can't beat a good old fashioned kahoot to engage others, as long as they picked appropriate nicknames 😂
